What parasites can be in the nose?

The human nasal cavity is important for a number of physiological functions. But for some natural creatures, the human nasal cavity becomes a habitat and reproduction. Thus, larvae of flies and some helminths can enter the nasal cavity, and they can also leave the human body through the nasal cavity. Larvae of what creatures can live in the nasal cavity? What process can be provoked by parasites in the human body in the sinuses of the nose?

What parasite in the human body often migrates into the nasal cavity?

The worms use the nasal cavity to get out and can also stay in the nasal cavity for a long time. The most common parasite in the human body that can be found in the nasal cavity is roundworm.

Moving throughout the body, the roundworm larva is able to invade the lymph nodes and lymphoid tissue of the pharyngeal lymphoid ring. At the same time, the already weakened function of the immune system is further reduced when the "unexpected guest" penetrates. If the larva invades the salivary glands, this is manifested by profuse salivation, which can be seen from the traces of saliva on the pillow, the appearance of a jam around the mouth and a white coating on the lips. Roundworms significantly increase the level of intoxication syndrome.

Symptoms of parasites in the nasal cavity

When ascaris is localized in the nose, they can crawl into the paranasal sinuses and provoke the development of an acute or chronic disease of the paranasal sinuses. In addition to parasites in the human body, the presence of a fungal infection also allows roundworms to form polyps, adenomas and cysts in the sinuses. In X-ray practice, every tenth study of the head, made for various reasons, revealed the presence of a cyst of the paranasal sinuses. Most of these cysts were an accidental finding, because the patient did not feel the manifestations of sinusitis. Such cysts are formed in the presence of ascaris in the sinuses.

Also, parasites in the human body, including ascaris, can penetrate the pharyngeal opening of the auditory tube, causing the patient such troubles as ringing in the ears, hearing loss and dizziness, "seasickness" syndrome, the development of Minier's syndrome is possible.

Parasites in the human body that can be transmitted in another country

In addition to helminths, for example, fly larvae can be found in the nasal cavity.

Myiasis muscosa is a disease characterized by the colonization of fly larvae on the skin or mucous membranes. Such flies are common in India, the United States of America, there are no such flies in Europe. As a rule, the fly lays its eggs on the nasal mucosa damaged by the pathological process. The larvae that develop from the eggs are up to 16 mm in size and are endowed with two mouth hooks.

In the presence of a fly larva in the nasal cavity, patients complain of insomnia, dizziness and sneezing attacks. Objectively, the disease is manifested by a sharp swelling of one half of the face or the entire face, which often gives reason to think about erysipelas. A sign that will clarify the nature of the disease is the discharge from the nose of bloody-serous masses with an unpleasant odor. At the same time, the more larvae in the nose, the more secretions.

The larvae are localized in the back of the nose. Their long stay in the nose can lead to the destruction of not only the mucous membrane, but also the hard palate, the skeleton of the nose and the nasal septum. In severe cases of the presence of parasites in the human body, meningitis may develop.

Ways to get rid of such parasites in the human body as fly larvae

To get rid of fly larvae in the nasal cavity, volatile strongly smelling substances are used: cologne, ether, alcohol, Peruvian balsam, tobacco, decoction of bitter herbs, vapors of turpentine and gasoline. Injection of powders (iodoform and Calmel) is recommended. Solutions of alum, sublimate and carbolic acid are also used. It was proposed to lubricate the nasal mucosa with a solution of cocaine, followed by removal of the larvae. The best effect was observed after the action of chloroform water, sublimate and camphor-carbolic solution in chloroform water.

At the present time, many people often go abroad for various purposes, which in the epidemiological & nbsp; understanding is not always good. Thus, a person can become infected with diseases new to our society, which are difficult to establish due to lack of practice. Therefore, when taking a history of a patient with complaints of bloody discharge with an unpleasant odor, if he traveled abroad, you need to think about the possible presence of larvae in the nasal cavity.
