Liposuction is one of the most popular procedures in plastic surgery, because today the problem of overweight is becoming more and more acute every day.
However, with the classical technique of liposuction, even the most experienced surgeon is not always able to achieve a good result. In this regard, specialists from all over the world are looking for ways to optimize this surgical intervention.

How popular is liposuction today?
Liposuction — This is one of the most demanded operations in plastic surgery, but at the same time one of the most difficult. In order to achieve the best result, we take a special approach to liposuction. The uniqueness of our technique lies in the fact that we perform liposuction in a standing position, which gives us the opportunity to correct everything that remains invisible in a horizontal position.
The operation is performed under sedation and local anesthesia. We first perform liposuction in a horizontal position and then ask the patient to stand up. The person himself helps us to identify problem areas, taking part in the creative process of the operation. He has the opportunity to look in the mirror and point out which particular places still do not suit him.
How long have you been doing liposuction using this technique?
We have been working on this technique for 26 years. Even at the beginning of my practice, I came to the conclusion that the results of liposuction in a horizontal position leave much to be desired. This is also due to the fact that our skin has a memory, after it has been expanded with adipose tissue for many years, it is very difficult to achieve its reduction. So we started looking for ways to optimize liposuction. In foreign literature, we found data on the use of an orthostatic table, however, the patient was under anesthesia. We use a different approach — our patients calmly get up from the table, turn and bend over. This gives us the opportunity to see all the defects, and remove the amount of adipose tissue that is really needed.
Ten years ago, when we created the Society of Plastic Surgeons in Belarus, at my suggestion we immediately introduced a section of cosmetologists into the society’s charter, who, together with us, took an active part in the work . In our clinic today, the tandem "plastic surgeon - cosmetologist" is a prerequisite for successful operation.
