Packing your bags: 75 things you need to take on a trip

Probably, everyone has faced such a situation: when going on a trip, you throw in the suitcase the things you need, as it seemed at that moment, and when you arrive at the place, it turns out that you have forgotten that, and this is not enough… And the most harmless, if it's a toothbrush or even a bathing suit — after all, everything can be bought. Worse, if you forgot that thanks to which you can buy everything. And it’s really bad if you forgot your passport when going overseas. Our portal, which has compiled a universal list of what you need to take on a trip for its readers who are going on vacation, will help to facilitate collections and eliminate unpleasant surprises.

Generic list of things to take on vacation

Smart people make a list of everything they need to take with them before they travel. But even here, not everything is cheerful, because you can forget to add important things to the cherished list, but write down what you won’t need at all later. Yes, and compiling it before each trip is annoying… Our portal will make life easier for travelers: we offer a universal list of things that you should take when going on the road, whether it's a vacation, a business trip or any other long trip. And it's up to you to decide — what to take from this list and what to leave at home.

Be sure to add paper and scanned copies of documents to the list of things to take on a trip. The former are best stored separately from documents, the latter — in cloud servers or by sending yourself an e-mail. In case of loss of documents, copies will simplify the procedure for obtaining new ones at the consulate.

Documents opens a list of things to take on a trip. Clothes, cosmetics, food — everything can be bought. Without documents — no way. As they say, without a piece of paper you are a bug… Therefore, the first thing you need to take when going on a trip is documents, especially if you are going abroad:

  1. identity card — passport/foreign passport;
  2. driver's license;
  3. insurance policy;
  4. photocopy of international passport;
  5. visa
  6. child's travel document;
  7. tickets;
  8. a card with a name, phone number, which must be put in luggage (in case it is lost);
  9. certificate of vaccinations (if necessary);
  10. medical card, referral (if you are going to a health resort).

Experienced travelers are advised to take paper and scanned copies of documents with you on a trip and keep the first… separately from documents, the second — in cloud servers or by sending yourself an e-mail. If, God forbid, trouble happens (loss, theft of documents), photocopies will simply save you — will simplify the procedure for obtaining documents at the consulate.

Money/credit cards/cheques. Even if you are traveling under the all inclusive program, you need to have the currency at least for unforeseen cases — medical treatment that is not covered by the insurance policy, unexpected changes in the tour program & hellip; You should always have a small part of the money with you — in a secure, hidden pocket. Larger amounts are best kept in a hotel safe. In addition to cash, it is obligatory to have credit cards of at least Classic / Standard / Gold class, and it is desirable that at least one of them be chip.

Clothes. This part concerns mainly women who sin by the desire to take half a closet on vacation. And then they complain that "five more dresses were left undressed." The basic principle of clothing for leisure: natural materials, convenience, versatility, ease of care. Therefore, no silk, synthetic, wrinkled outfits and 13-centimeter heels. But you can take a few more pieces of underwear than days of rest. And a couple extra T-shirts wouldn't hurt.  So, here is what kind of clothes a place in the suitcase of a vacationer, more precisely, a vacationer:

  1. long practical dark trousers;
  2. long skirt — useful (like long trousers) on cool evenings and when visiting holy places where you can’t appear with bare parts of the body;
  3. shorts;
  4. jeans/leggings;
  5. several cotton T-shirts, T-shirts;
  6. light blouse with long sleeves: on excursions, thrown over the shoulders, it will protect you from sunburn, in the evening, tied in a knot under the bust, with a long skirt, it will attract eyes to you in a restaurant;
  7. 2-3 light dresses/sundresses of universal models, which are suitable for both evening events and daytime walks around the city;
  8. tunic dress (ideally with pockets): you can wear it on the beach, on an excursion (with shorts, leggings), and in a restaurant (with a long skirt);
  9. jacket/windbreaker/hooded sweater: even if it's +30 outside, it can come in handy on a crazy air-conditioned bus;
  10. shoes: bright flip-flops (for shower, beach, breakfast/lunch), sneakers or soft, comfortable low-speed shoes, stylish sandals, suitable for a restaurant or for a walk, coral slippers — if you are going to the sea with a rocky bottom or an abundance of sea urchins (to Croatia, for example);
  11. socks (nylon, cotton);
  12. swimsuit;
  13. pareo: to the beach, for a walk as protection of the shoulders from the sun, for excursions to temples — cover hair, shoulders… and also as a beautiful accessory to a plain dress in a restaurant;
  14. headwear (hat, panama, baseball cap…);
  15. sunglasses;
  16. thin raincoat.

Cosmetic bag. The main thing in the makeup bag of the one who goes on vacation in the summer — Sun and after sun products. One is not enough, because it is difficult to predict how the skin will react to sunbathing. Of course, you shouldn’t fill your cosmetic bag, especially since hotels, as a rule, have everything you need for personal hygiene — in some even toothbrushes, paste. But we repeat: you can’t save on tanning products. And to buy them at the resorts — more expensive for yourself. So, the list of things for a cosmetic bag:

  1. tanner. It is better to buy 3 products with filters of different levels: start with a high filter, gradually, when the skin is slightly tanned, moving to lower ones. You should choose one of the products in a spray, take it with you on walks, excursions and apply it to exposed skin every 2 hours;
  2. after-sun lotion/cream/balm;
  3. thermal water for face;
  4. refreshing body spray;
  5. face creams (day and night) of light texture. Day — with high UV filter;
  6. sun protection hair spray;
  7. hand cream;
  8. toothbrush, paste;
  9. comb;
  10. hair clips, hair ties;
  11. razor, shaving gel/foam;
  12. sanitary napkins;
  13. deodorant;
  14. pampers for children;
  15. decorative cosmetics (minimum!!! For example, mascara and lip gloss);
  16. make-up remover, cotton pads;
  17. facial wet wipes;
  18. antibacterial hand gel;
  19. cotton swabs;
  20. small manicure set.
