Visiting Professor Program 3 Science Program: What Leading Surgeons Talked About

On April 7 and 8, one of the most anticipated training events in aesthetic medicine of this year took place at the IQ business center in Kiev – scientific program within the framework of the ISAPS Visiting Professor Program 3. The event was organized by the All-Ukrainian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, as well as the National Secretary of ISAPS Pavel Andreyevich Denishchuk. As part of the event, leading surgeons discussed such topical issues as breast, buttock and lower leg augmentation, and such prominent plastic surgeons as Constantino Mendieta, Paolo Montemurro and Janis Gilis acted as invited speakers. Pavel Andreevich, you have already organized the third Visiting Professor Program. Tell me, was it difficult to organize it this time?

You know, every conference has its own peculiarities. It may have been easier at certain organizational moments, but other factors were included that slightly changed our scientific program. For example, it so happened that we had to make a video demonstration of live surgery by our domestic surgeons, in particular, yesterday I operated, and today Vasily Vasilyevich Khrapach is operating. The question was raised regarding the legalization of surgical interventions by foreign specialists, and I had to put in a lot of effort explaining to our foreign guests that we are changing the program. But, thanks to their frank desire to still come to Ukraine, we agreed, changed the program, and we are successfully running our third Visiting Professor Program. Of course, there are nuances, but, in general, the scientific program is very successful, because, it is probably the most numerous, there are many new faces, new young surgeons who are interested in modern trends and methods of breast, buttocks and lower legs correction. We cover a fairly wide range of our knowledge, and, of course, many specialists are interested in this approach.

Why did you choose breast, buttock and lower leg augmentation as the topic of this scientific program?

The fact is that we have already considered the topic of the face, partially considered the topic of noses, and now we are going down a little lower, therefore we have chosen the topic of this scientific program, just, augmentation of the chest, buttocks and lower legs.

According to the statistics of the International Association of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeons, breast augmentation ranks first in the world, lipoaspiration is the second, and then facial rejuvenation and other surgical interventions have come next.

That is, this is an operative intervention that has a big trend, and it is gaining momentum, which means that surgeons have a need to join modern knowledge. And our today's event, just, gives surgeons the opportunity to receive the highest, world level of knowledge, and learn from the experience of primary sources.

Tell me, what was the reason for the choice of invited speakers this year?

The choice this year was due to the fact that these are TOP surgeons and, moreover, surgeons of a new generation. Constantino Mendieta is a top surgeon in the USA, he is probably the leader in breast and buttock augmentation, and in any conferences and other events he is a top speaker, and the surgeon who dictates fashion and trends in breast correction surgery. Therefore, my choice was to invite the best surgeon. In particular, both Constantino Mendieta and Paolo Montemurro from Sweden were invited, that is, that new generation of surgeons who dictate fashion in plastic surgery. We have the opportunity to get information from primary sources, and this is the most important thing, and we give this opportunity to our surgeons. We also have guests from the Baltic States, Belarus, Moldova and Armenia, that is, quite a lot of guests from other countries,

Yes, yesterday I conducted an operation with a demonstration in the hall, with comments, and it was a rather important event for me, and it was successful.

It was not just a female breast augmentation surgery, but a complex reconstruction of the female breast with augmentation.

The patient had a problem, the medical name of which is tubular breasts, it needed to be corrected and, in a certain way, also enlarged breasts, that is, it was such a whole complex. I have already communicated with our foreign colleagues, and they told me that the surgical intervention was carried out at a fairly high level. I am very pleased with their assessment, because I chose an approach that, in principle, today is considered the best approach to such problems that women can face. Therefore, using the approach of modern technologies, an individual approach to each patient, and the use of such moments, you can get the best result, based on a harmonious vision of the patient as a whole.

Are you planning a Visiting Professor Program 4?

There will definitely be a Visiting Professor Program 4! The topic is now being discussed, because in many cases it depends on the speaker with whom we agree to host this program. It was necessary to conduct fairly lengthy negotiations with each speaker, to agree, to agree on all the nuances, and, at the moment, this process is ongoing, therefore, I cannot say the topic yet. I think that in the near future we will discuss everything, and we will already announce our topic, and the name of the guest speaker for the Visiting Professor Program 4 scientific program.
