The US Hair Protection Association has published a list of products that help maintain hair and prevent baldness. Experts believe that foods that contain omega-3 fatty acids can do just fine. Among them were legumes, seeds and nuts, oily fish.

Hair also suffers from a lack of zinc, which is found in large quantities in seafood and meat, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate.

Vitamin B7 is essential for healthy hair (it prevents breakage), as well as vitamin C found in offal, eggs, green vegetables and citrus fruits.

In case of severe hair loss, spicy and fried foods, canned and smoked foods, too salty or sweet foods, flour products, sweet carbonated drinks and alcohol should be excluded from the diet.
