Актуальные вопросы аллергических реакций в дерматокосметологии

Allergic reactions – it is the body's response to the influence of certain environmental factors. For specialists in aesthetic medicine, the issue of allergic reactions is very relevant, as they can occur in response to any procedure or cosmetic product.

Beauticians should have the necessary information about allergic reactions. In an interview for estet-portal.com, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases of the Dnepropetrovsk State Medical Academy Tatyana Viktorovna Svyatenko told why allergic reactions can occur in the practice of a cosmetologist and what prevention methods will help prevent their occurrence.

What are the most common allergic reactions you experience

In their practice, almost every day, any dermatologist and cosmetologist encounters allergic reactions to the substances used.

Because the skin is the outer barrier of the human body, it is in contact with the environment, so by far the widest range of different irritants can adversely affect the skin.

Today, more than 80,000 chemical agents are known to cause some kind of irritation or allergic reaction on the skin.

After which cosmetic procedures allergic reactions most often occur

Allergic reactions can occur to a wide variety of cosmetic procedures. They can occur not only in procedures that are professionally applied in institutions where aesthetic services are provided, but can also occur in those cosmetic products that our patients use at home, for home care, in everyday practice.

The most banal various perfumes and skin care products can cause allergies. Here, not only the composition of the product is important, but also those additional agents that are used in the production of a particular cosmetic product.

These are both flavorings and stabilizers - they can also give intolerance reactions. In addition, of course, there is still a wide range of irritation reactions that are expected in cosmetology. That is, some influences and procedures aim to somehow stimulate certain skin functions through some kind of damage, irritation.

Therefore, to say that some of these influences are in the first place – this will probably be wrong, since here it is very complex to evaluate the patient's body, and a wide variety of concomitant factors, and many other aspects.

What methods of preventing such situations do you use

The most important prevention – it is to possess the knowledge of evidence-based medicine, to possess the knowledge that is known today in world practice.

The specialist must be professionally educated, and when he knows this, most reactions can be prevented and prevented.

We cannot say that we can prevent all 100% of reactions, because it does not always depend 100% on the specialist. But we can correctly collect an anamnesis, find out previous reactions, because sometimes, in practice, such simple questions elude, and it is precisely because the specialist omitted some simple questions, or lack of knowledge, that certain reactions may occur.

What would you advise patients who have experienced an allergic reaction to do

If any reaction occurs, it is necessary, first of all, to analyze, if possible, what could cause it, to contact the specialist who performed this or that procedure. If this is a cosmetologist, then he will already determine how severe this reaction is and whether medical assistance is needed here, or was it an expected reaction that should spontaneously disappear after one or another period of time.

Therefore, the first – it is of course not to panic, stop using the remedies that allegedly caused this reaction and consult a specialist.

And one more simple, but quite important advice, which is sometimes overlooked: if this was a multi-component procedure, in which many new components were used for this particular patient, it would not be superfluous to stick to the diet for at least the next few days.

Because in practice we may encounter combined reactions when they are provoked by the use of some additional influences. These should be excluded as much as possible. Especially if the patient knows that he is allergic. Of course, there must be a diet, there must be, perhaps, some kind of cover-up drugs - this is all decided by a specialist.
