On March 24, a unique event dedicated exclusively to aesthetic gynecology took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel - EXPERT GYNECOLOGY MEETING 2017. The Association of Laser Medicine and Cosmetology acted as the organizer. More than 100 gynecologists, aesthetic medicine specialists and players in the market of equipment and preparations for gynecology from Ukraine, Moldova and Lithuania became participants of the conference. 17 speakers shared their experience and best practices in the use of laser, hardware, surgical and injection technologies used in aesthetic gynecology. The conference was opened by PhD, gynecologist Tatyana Shevchuk. As a member of the European Society for Aesthetic Gynecology (ESAG), she shared information about current trends in gynecology in general, and a relatively new direction - aesthetic gynecology. According to her speech, the new demand is the increasing need of patients to stay young, active, healthy and attractive longer.
I picked up this wave and confirmed the new requirements of patients, based on my vast experience, professor, obstetrician-gynecologist of the highest category, MD, Chief Researcher of the Department of Sexopathology and Andrology of the State Institution "Institute of Urology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine" Oksana Romashchenko. In her report, she said that in Ukraine, women on average enter menopause at the age of 49, which is the earliest figure in Europe. Age-related changes and disorders of the sexual sphere significantly affect the well-being, social activity, psychological state and life expectancy of women in our country. Aesthetic gynecology techniques can influence these indicators and significantly improve the quality of life of women.
Yegor Kolodchenko, PhD, President of the Association of Laser Medicine and Cosmetology, presented unique clinical data obtained in recent years at the Coherent clinic. on the possibilities and results, including long-term, after the use of laser and apparatus (RF) procedures for the treatment of such problems as atrophy of the vaginal mucosa and stress urinary incontinence. He also shared research data in the field of aesthetic gynecology, which were reported at major international congresses in Europe in 2016-2017.
In the following sessions, individual methods of aesthetic gynecology were discussed – laser and hardware, minimally invasive surgical, injection.
Gynecologist-surgeon Dmitry Nikolaev shared his own, the longest in Ukraine, experience of using CO2 laser to solve the problem of stress urinary incontinence. Plastic surgeon Olga Zhigunova and gynecologist Andrey Ganushchak continued their series of reports on their own experience with lasers from various manufacturers as well as combining lasers with other techniques.
Special invited guest of EXPERT GYNECOLOGY MEETING, President of the Italian Menopause Society, Dr. Marco Gambacciani shared his vast experience in the use of the Erbium laser for the treatment of atrophy of the vaginal mucosa. He introduced the conference participants to new techniques, gave new, yet unpublished data on the use of the laser for the treatment of atrophy, wide vagina syndrome and stress urinary incontinence. Later, he also gave a unique master class on the use of laser for the treatment of atrophy of the vaginal mucosa for a patient with a mastectomy due to a history of malignancy.
Dermatovenereologist Maria Sergeeva introduced the conference participants to research on the effectiveness of the RF method in aesthetic gynecology and sexology: from intimate zone remodeling to normalization of microflora.
The highlight of the presentation by dermatovenereologist Maria Trifonova was a live demonstration of the procedure for resurfacing the external genital organs using the Syneron-Candela CO2Re laser. Each listener on the screen could see the technique of the procedure, evaluate the results and ask questions to the speaker.
In the session "Minimally invasive and surgical methods of correction in aesthetic gynecology" Professor Oksana Romashchenko shared her experience of an integrated approach to the treatment of such gynecological problems as vulvodynia, vestibulodynia, dyspareunia and vaginismus using botulinum toxin. And doctors Nina Shavrina and Valeria Rabizo, unique specialists who practice as a gynecologist and dermatologist, voiced their experience in combining various minimally invasive techniques: fillers, threads, biorevitalization, botulinum toxins and PRP.
Ph.D. Dmitry Mikhailov – the only urologist in Ukraine who has experience in the treatment of urinary incontinence using botulinum toxin preparations. In his report, he evaluated the criteria for the effectiveness of this method, showed the results of his work.
Plastic surgeon, Ph.D. Pavel Denishchuk showed the possibilities of the surgical method – lipografting to correct the volume of the external genital organs – the results of his work were impressive. The cooperation of gynecologists and doctors of other specialties will help patients to restore not only the health of patients, but also to correct age-related changes in the external genital organs. She continued the topic with the nuances of reconstructive surgery and surgical methods of rejuvenation in gynecology, Ph.D. Tatyana Shevchuk.
The final session dealt with the issues of hormonal disorders and associated aesthetic defects. A comparison of international and national standards for assessing hyperandrogenic conditions in women was made by Ph.D., obstetrician-gynecologist Tatyana Popova. It has long been no secret that the hormonal background has a significant effect on the appearance of a woman. A modern trend is the help of a gynecologist in solving not only purely gynecological problems, but also in correcting the appearance with the help of hormonal therapy. The view of a dermatologist-trichologist on androgenetic alopecia as a condition requiring hormonal correction was shown by Ph.D. dermatologist-trichologist Olga Ray.
In conclusion, Dr. Gambacciani spoke about modern European approaches to treatment of the genitourinary syndrome of menopause.
At the EXPERT GYNECOLOGY MEETING 2017 conference, all participants received a lot of ideas, knowledge and techniques for their future work, were able to communicate with colleagues and discuss pressing issues of modern gynecology, get to know the equipment and preparations used in aesthetic gynecology and kindly provided by the partners of the event, as well as to purchase specialized periodicals and reference literature.
