The human body is surrounded by parasites of plant and animal origin. They can live in almost all tissues, cavities and environments of the body. Their existence for humans is sometimes imperceptible and manifests itself only a few years after the parasite has settled. The nasal cavity is no exception, and it can also contain a variety of fungi and worms. Consider plant parasites and the symptoms by which you can determine the presence of a fungal infection.

Fungal infection caused by Oidium albicans or Endomyces albicans

The fungus settles on the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and penetrates into the thickness of the epithelium through a substance that sticks together individual cells and multiplies in the epithelium layer, sometimes penetrating to the muscle layer of the organs. Very rarely, a fungal infection reaches deep-seated organs. On the mucous membrane, which is not damaged by any process, fungal infection is very rare.

Fungal infections are common in patients with severe long-term illnesses – these are tuberculosis, pneumonia, diabetes mellitus, infectious diseases. Fungal infection of the mucous membrane mainly occurs in the hot season, when good conditions are created for fermentation processes.

A fungal infection appears first in the oral cavity - at the tip and along the edges of the tongue. With a mild fungal infection, separate scattered whitish spots are noticeable, which slightly rise above the surface of the mucous membrane and are easily removed. After removal, the mucous membrane is not damaged.

Thrush often affects the organs of the digestive tract, from where it can spread to the nasopharyngeal space and nose. With a fungal infection of the nose, this is manifested by an abundant secretion from the nose, which leads to obturation of the choanal mucus. This is accompanied by headaches, the formation of erosions at the nasal openings and nosebleeds. Treatment of fungal infections of the nasal cavity consists in washing with alkaline solutions, 2-5% sodium bicarbonate solution or 0.5% Argenti nitric solution.

A fungal infection of the nasal cavity caused by Aspergillus fumigates

This type of fungus forms layers when settling on the mucous membrane. Under a microscope, the layers look like a mesh several microns thick, which consists of mycelium, thin filaments and round conidia, having a greenish or brown color. Fungal infection appears after infection with a fungus from some animals – such as chicken, canary, pig, pigeon, rabbit, monkey.

A fungal infection of the nasal cavity manifests itself with a stuffy nose, the formation of a large amount of mucus and the release of mushy masses or pus from the nose. This is accompanied by attacks of frequent sneezing, heaviness in the eyes and headaches. The mucous membrane of the nasal cavity is edematous and pale, the shells are swollen. The most important symptom of a fungal infection of the nose is the discharge of white membranes from the nasal cavity. The treatment consists in washing the nasal cavity with a solution of potassium permanganate.

Fungal infection of the nose due to infection with sporotrichosis and blastocysts

Blastocyst disease begins after the parasite has settled in the tissues of Blastomyces, which are oval, single-celled organisms that reproduce by budding. In the nasal cavity, this disease occurs in two forms - internal and external. With the external version, nodules appear on the skin of the nose, with the internal - & nbsp; the nodules are localized on the nasal septum, after the disintegration of the nodules, perforations form in their place. The diagnosis is confirmed on the basis of microscopic examination. Treatment consists of taking potassium iodide by mouth.

Sporotrichosis. The disease is provoked by fungi of the genus Rhinocladium (Sporotrichun). A fungal infection develops after infection with a pathogen that is found in hay, grass or lettuce leaves, from where it enters the human body. Fungal infection is characterized by the formation of nodules on the skin, which, after decay, form ulcers. If the fungal infection is in the nose, it is manifested by headaches, bloody discharge from the nose, or nosebleeds. The mucous membrane is edematous, the sense of smell is not disturbed. Treatment consists of rinsing with disinfectant solutions and ingestion of potassium iodide.
