In recent years, the attitude towards aesthetic procedures has changed a lot, if earlier "effective" correction was considered when the result was “on the face”, then today the task of a specialist in aesthetic medicine is to make sure that no one suspects that the patient has undergone any procedures, especially injections.  As a result, physicians are constantly looking for the highest quality dermal fillers.

Ph.D., President of the Israeli Society of Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons, Member of the Board of Directors of the International Society of Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons, Member of the American Academy of Dermatologists, shared her secrets with the readers of estet-portal.com about choosing the most effective hyaluronic acid preparations, Leading Lecturer of the European and American Society of Dermatologists – Marina Landau.

What determines the result of aesthetic correction with hyaluronic acid preparations

M.L.: Naturally, the result of the correction, first of all, depends on the doctor. In my opinion, the technologies that we use are important, but only in the hands of a professional, they can be really effective.

For a specialist in aesthetic medicine, it is very important to develop a taste and sense of beauty.
It is important for the doctor to clearly understand what actions will help make the patient beautiful, and which obviously will not benefit him.  It is also very important to understand that correction at 25 and at 60 requires a completely different approach. What is right for young skin can even harm the age.

What is the secret of the popularity of hyaluronic acid preparations

ML: Today, when we talk about fillers, we mostly mean dermal fillers based on hyaluronic acid. This is due to the fact that these drugs have almost 20 years of history, and most importantly, they have a very high biocompatibility. However, we do not use pure hyaluronic acid as it is rapidly degraded in tissues. Naturally, all fillers are biologically modified hyaluronic acid. Different companies use their own unique production technology, however, whether it is good or not, it becomes clear after we start working with this or that drug.

What affects the biocompatibility of hyaluronic acid preparations

M.L.: One of the factors that affects the biocompatibility of drugs is the technology of its firmware, and the cross-linking agents used.

Today, the majority of hyaluronic acid preparations are flashed using BDDE (butanediel diglycedyl ether).
Recently, a drug appeared on the market, the firmware of which was carried out not with BBDE, but with polyethylene glycol (PEG). PEG has been used in cosmetics and medicines for many years and is considered very safe.  And to date, all studies show that this particular hyaluronic acid preparation has the highest biocompatibility.
