When a patient with such mental characteristics gets an appointment with a cosmetologist, the doctor sometimes cannot understand why the relationship with him does not add up, and the procedures do not bring the expected effect.

Psychological types of behavior of patients and the doctor's reaction to them

Psychologists usually take the concept of a holistic personality image as the basis of their research and conditional division of patients into types, which includes:

  • the emotional sphere of this person,
  • her individual features in cognitive activity,
  • how a person builds behavior with other people,
  • the ability to motivate yourself.

If any of the components of this integral system is broken, then this becomes the cause of an internal conflict of a person and determines those mental features of his behavior that are difficult for others to get along with.

Let's analyze some types of patients that are distinguished by specialists in terms of certain mental characteristics, and the doctor's possible reactions to the behavior of such patients.

Paranoid type.

The patient is inclined to believe that the doctor is inattentive to him, makes a superficial examination and incorrect prescriptions. At the same time, the patient feels the reciprocal tension of the beautician and tends to accumulate hostility towards himself.

Doctor's reaction: feels irritated and even angry because he is not respected, criticized, devalued his skills; tries to restrain his hostile emotions and controls speech so as not to cause an emotional outburst or aggressive actions in the patient.

Schizoid type.

Patients are inconsistent in their behavior – can be both tactless and shy, apathetic and assertive, stubborn and easily persuaded.

Doctor's response: The beautician tends to feel inappropriate and incompetent, suffers from an inability to establish an acceptable relationship with the patient and from feeling let down and disappointed by the inability to help in the way that he wants; often has a strong desire to recommend that the patient see another specialist.

Schizotypal.

The patient is emotionally cold, eccentric and aloof, tends to talk about his peculiarities of thinking that do not correspond to generally accepted cultural norms, is unable to adequately interpret & nbsp; what happens to him.

Doctor's reaction: it is difficult to feel involved in the process of working with this patient, the cosmetologist often catches himself talking to the patient about something completely different from what he is thinking.

Asocial Behavior.

The patient tries to manipulate his beautician, use him and set him up, often setting rigid boundaries for the relationship.

Doctor's reaction: often feels angry at himself for taking care of this patient at all; sometimes feels rude towards the patient and worries about his irritation.

Borderline behavior.

The patient may try to intimidate the cosmetologist by pointing out his incompetence, or inability to help, or unwillingness to delve into his problems.

Doctor's reaction: sometimes he blames himself for hurting the patient, more often he makes concessions with him even to the detriment of his own interests, more often than others he is inclined to discuss these cases with colleagues, and at the end of the course of procedures he feels that it was used.

Hysteroid type.

The patient requires a lot of attention and involvement in his life, experiences difficulties in establishing the framework of relationships.

Doctor's reaction: forced to be fully immersed in work during the procedure, often refrains from expressing his opinion on issues raised by the patient, but forced to delve into the vicissitudes of his personal life.

Narcissistic type.

The patient is deeply absorbed in himself, reasoning about his own appearance and the problems associated with it, he perceives the doctor as a necessary object for his own satisfaction.

Doctor's reaction: Feeling irritated and distant at being almost ignored and easily replaced by someone else as he means nothing to the patient.

Avoidant type of behavior.

The patient is neither active nor particularly interested in a course of procedures that solve some problems of his appearance, he is very afraid of any failures, but is not ready to do anything to prevent problems.

Doctor's reaction: often feels like he wants to take care of the patient instead of the people who left him alone with problems; feels special satisfaction if the procedures gave good results for this patient.
