When the famous actress Sharon Stone was asked how she fights the blues, she answered instantly: "I'm changing my lover and buying a new perfume!" As for the first part of the statement, this is a matter of a personal nature. But about the change of flavor is worth thinking seriously.

aromat-dolzhen-predvaryat-vashe-poyavlenieAfter all, it should be designed to become not only a means of seduction, but also to help make your life better and richer, says Svetlana KOMISSAROVA, a perfume expert, an employee of the European Academy of Image, a leader of perfume workshops.

The division of fragrances into male and female is just a convention

— Svetlana, is there a fashion for fragrances?
I think the only fashion that exists today, between us, is extremely ridiculous, is fashion for novelties that are bought regardless of how they actually smell. Gone are the days when mass passion for one type or another of fragrances was provoked by the appearance of perfume masterpieces, as was the case in 1925 after the birth of Shalimar. Or in 1977 with the advent of Opium, when the world discovered the charm of ambery, oriental perfumes. Or in the 90s of the last century, when chemists gave perfumers the opportunity to make transparent-watery compositions like L’eau d’ Issey, and perfumers are obsessed with watermelon freshness.

It's different these days. There is no time to wait for masterpieces, because every year 400 new fragrances are released, and novelties, as advertising zombifies us, it's so good! And it doesn't matter that all these 400 fragrances are indistinguishable like twins they are bought simply because it  novelties. For advertising, you can sell any "compote", as connoisseurs contemptuously call most seasonal one-day compositions…

However, the good news is that modern perfumery has such a powerful arsenal of classic fragrances accumulated over the years, on the one hand, and is enriched by such bold experiments of today's niche brands, on the other hand, that there is no need to follow any fashion. You just need to find your scent.
— Should it be selected taking into account age and external data?
Fragrances for day and evening, for blondes and brunettes, for young and mature these are just stereotypes! Feel free to ignore them and you won't regret it. I will say more the canonical division of fragrances into male and female is also nothing more than a convention. The aroma should please you and make you more interesting. Everything else is from the evil one.

Skillfully selected fragrance the best means of communication

— How to find your fragrance?

It's paradoxical, but true: the chances of making the right choice of scent based on "snuff" in a perfume shop catastrophically small. Yes, yes, alas!

Firstly, the concentration of aromatic substances in the air is too high in such stores.

And secondly, our sense of smell is in principle capable of correctly perceiving too few aromas in a row. So either come to the store with an idea in mind or prepare to be slow and persistent.

Applied a couple of fragrances on the wrists one on one, the other on the other and away from the store. Watch how the fragrances will open up, show their character.

If half an hour or an hour later the fragrance still pleases you maybe you have found what you were looking for. If not, then nothing will stop you from continuing your search.

It is believed that fragrance should be applied to the wrists and earlobes. But some consultants advise to spray the fragrance and "enter it" & hellip;
I don't think our goal is Scent the floor! Especially when you consider how much we pay for each bottle! And the rules about "anointing behind the ear," came to us from those times when fragrances were all concentrations of perfumes and were poured into bottles with a ground cork. Today, most of us use eau de toilette or eau de parfum and operate with sprays. So why limit yourself? Why not make your hair and clothes exude your favorite fragrance?

What is bad manners when applying fragrance?

I don't think there are any taboos. I am sure that a well-chosen fragrance  is an excellent means of communication. He will tell a lot about you to others even before you yourself say or do something. Of course, there will always be people who may not like your fragrance. But, in the end, someone may not like us either. Correctly? I agree with the late Mrs. Estee Lauder, who, regarding the permissible intensity of perfume application, said: “The fragrance should precede your entry into the room, and remain in it after you leave. Otherwise, why did you spend the money?».

Consultants of many perfume firms say that you should use not only perfume, but also deodorant of the same brand. Is this true?
It is possible, but not necessary! In general, the existence of perfume lines & nbsp; scented cream, body powder, deodorant, soap it's all a matter of marketing. Our business is to choose. Avid perfumers always use unscented deodorants, because perfume and deodorant have completely different tasks.
