Pain in the joints sooner or later comes to everyone. The first thing that comes to mind when there is pain in the joints, – it's arthritis. However, the problem may be different: if your joints hurt, the reason for this may lie in dangerous problems:
1. Reaction to drugs
Of course, drugs are meant to cure, but as you know, almost all of them have their own side effects, especially antibiotics such as penicillin. Your body may have an inflammatory response to the medication you are taking. If joint pain occurs along with a skin rash, red eyes, or upset stomach, it may be due to certain medications. In this case, it is imperative to see a doctor who will prescribe another drug, as well as antihistamines or corticosteroids to relieve symptoms.
2. Gout
This painful disease is caused by the accumulation of uric acid, which forms crystals that cause joint inflammation. Risk groups include people who are genetically predisposed to gout, people who abuse alcohol, people who are obese, or people who consume large amounts of purines (which are found in meat and seafood).
Most often, at first, gout “beats” on the big toe, but it can also occur in other areas of the body, such as the knees or ankles. Gout is more common in men, but it also occurs in women (most often 20 years after menopause). Of course, gout is not diagnosed by pain in the joints alone, but after conducting the necessary tests and making a diagnosis, the doctor prescribes the necessary treatment, a course of exercise and abstinence from alcohol.
3. Sarcoidosis
A healthy immune system neutralizes any disease-causing organisms. However, in the case of sarcoidosis, which is an inflammatory disease, cells of the immune system form clusters in various organs and lead to symptoms such as fever, fatigue, and wheezing. According to studies, 1/4 of patients with sarcoidosis also suffer from sarcoid arthritis, also known as joint pain. However, after appropriate treatment with NSAIDs or steroids, the joint pain disappears after a few months.
4. Lyme Disease
One of the dangerous consequences of a tick bite is the transmission of the bacterium that causes Lyme disease. By the way, this disease is not always accompanied by the appearance of large red spots on the body, in addition, people do not always notice a tick on themselves, therefore, if the infection is not diagnosed and treated, it can spread throughout the body within a few weeks. Such an infection can manifest itself in the form of a headache or fever, as well as pain in the joints. Therefore, if you notice constant fatigue and pain in your joints, consult a doctor.
5. Fibromyalgia
Women are more susceptible to this disease than men. Fibromyalgia can be triggered by many factors, including stress. Fibromyalgia is thought to be an inflammatory response in the central nervous system that sends pain signals throughout the body. One study found that the brain can overreact to sensory information (such as sounds and smells) in the form of discomfort. However, the pain is concentrated not only in the joints. Therefore, in case of fatigue, headaches, anxiety and depression, along with joint pain, you should consult a doctor.
6. Bone cancer
Don't panic, the chance of developing bone cancer is very low. However, bone pain is a classic symptom of bone cancer (if the tumor is located near a joint, swelling can also be seen in this place), the pain worsens at night and during activity. Be aware that the symptoms of bone cancer can be similar to those of arthritis. It is not worth worrying in advance, but it is necessary to consult a doctor who will determine the cause of the pain.
Do not neglect your health and do not ignore the possible symptoms of dangerous diseases!
