Every person wants to live a long and happy life, and it is absolutely natural for each of us to want to preserve youth, health and beauty for as long as possible. Of course, with age, aging processes inevitably begin to occur in the body, but it is possible to maintain good physical shape until old age, and this is not as difficult as it seems.

On the secrets of a healthy and strong body for many years in an exclusive interview for readers of estet-portal.com is told by Nadezhda Kryzhanovskaya, candidate of medical sciences, general practitioner of the highest category and specialist in anti-age medicine. Tell me, what changes in physical shape occur with age, and why?

Even if we manage to maintain the same body weight throughout life, the percentage of adipose tissue in the body increases with age. This happens primarily because sarcopenia sets in - age-related loss of muscle mass, and this is the most difficult moment to overcome. Unfortunately, for these purposes, except for physical activity, there are no more ways.

There are a lot of drugs that help normalize metabolism, but if there is no obligatory daily load on the muscular apparatus, there will be no good result.

Muscles only receive the signal that they should maintain their mass, or even grow, at the moment of exercise. Therefore, it depends only on us how long our body will keep a good physical shape.

Why does the body's metabolism slow down with age?

The metabolism in our body slows down with age.  Insulin resistance, thyroid dysfunction, depression, gastroenterological and hormonal problems lead to an even greater slowdown. Everything that we accumulate with age, most often, fits precisely into the picture of slowing down metabolism and weight gain. It turns out that with the same physical activity and the same diet as usual, a person begins to gain weight.

If such a patient comes to you – how do you start working with him?

First – I always look at the patient as a whole. This means that I do research and look at the parameters of the patient's blood, urine and feces, perform an ultrasound scan, do some functional tests for stress, ask the patient about his life. I believe that the first acquaintance – the most important, because I begin to perceive the person as a whole. I never manage to isolate any of the days from the organs, even if there is a clear dominance. For example, if a person comes to me after a heart attack, then, most likely, at the beginning I will put his gastrointestinal tract in order in order to at least understand how the drugs will work for this patient.

Is it possible to maintain good physical shape throughout life?

Absolutely possible!  If there is at least 1 out of 20  people who manage to keep themselves in great shape until old age, then this is possible. And we see such people in motivational videos, we have such acquaintances, and so on. It is possible that maintaining a good & nbsp; physical form is more difficult for these people, because there is a slowdown in metabolism and tissue aging, but, as they say, the road will be mastered by the walking one. It is possible to do this, and our laziness is an obstacle!  Even when we talk about lack of time – this is also laziness, because there is no such working rhythm when you cannot set aside at least 20 minutes a day to put yourself in order. Centenarians – these are rather curious people who love the outside world very much and do not stop enjoying life,

Would you like to share with our readers your personal secrets of staying fit?

The first thing I want to say – now we are talking about me personally, and what suits me cannot be applied to everyone. I really love running, my body composition allows me to do it. And since I fly a lot, it's a very accessible sport that suits me. I run at least 40-60 minutes every day, depending on the weather.

Running, in addition to maintaining good physical shape, gives a very strong psycho-emotional upsurge and, which is very important, the opportunity to be alone with yourself, observe your thoughts and mood.

I'm also a very active street workout enthusiast because it has so many obvious benefits. Exercising on the street, a person overcomes a lot of weather conditions, hardens, gets more oxygen, and the picture before his eyes changes, which is also important. In addition, I love yoga very much, I do several asanas in the morning, but with the utmost concentration, in order to concentrate on the action, and not disperse the mind, which is already very tired during the day.

And what methods of keeping fit are suitable for everyone?

I believe that we are all different, and each suits his own. There are people who need to be extremely alone, then they need independent practices, for example, doing exercises according to recommendations on the Internet.  It is better for someone to work out in pairs, with a coach or friends, someone really loves adrenaline and winning, then team sports are suitable for him, and someone loves such types of "challenge" that are comparable only with survival, for example, mountains , cycling and so on. A person, first of all, must understand what he wants. To maintain good physical shape, we must simply move, and how anyone likes to do it, and in what quantities – that's a completely different question.
