Moderate physical activity is beneficial to the human body, strengthening blood vessels and the heart. However, when excessive loads are a prerequisite for work, health is destroyed. Scientists warn that due to regular heavy physical labor, which is part of the profession of many members of the stronger sex, men are losing the ability to have children. Scientists got to the bottom of the true cause of male infertility.
Researchers from the National Institutes of Health have drawn conclusions about the negative impact of hard physical labor on male reproductive function. Scientists analyzed the health data of 456 Americans (average age 32) and identified the main causes of male infertility.
Each of the study participants was married or in a civil relationship and planned to have offspring. The experts carefully studied the spermograms of volunteers and found that among men who work in comfortable conditions at the computer, only 6% had poor performance, and among those whose profession was associated with exhausting physical labor, poor sperm quality was observed in 13% of the participants in the experiment. .
Semen quality also depended on whether the volunteer suffered from high blood pressure. Thus, in the group of participants who had arterial hypertension, there was a deterioration in sperm quality in 21%, which is 4% more than among those who did not suffer from hypertension.
In addition, the causes of male infertility can be:
- long smoking history;
- malnutrition;
- work related to exposure to toxic substances;
- old age.
