Metabolic syndrome implies a complex disorder, the feature of which is further progression. Its development begins with an increase in insulin resistance, on which the hormonal balance of our body depends. Cells cease to perceive this hormone, and it, in turn, does not perform its functions. And as a result, there is a violation of the exchange of societies, the likelihood of developing diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases increases. In addition, this syndrome is directly related to high rates of obesity.

The main signs of metabolic syndrome: listen to yourself

- Obesity. It implies an increase in the volume of the waist, which indicates that fat is deposited on the internal organs. So, the normal waist size for the representatives of the stronger sex is considered to be no more than 94 cm, and for women - no more than 88 cm. If these figures are higher, then the person is at risk.

- Another alarming sign is elevated blood sugar levels of more than 6.1 mmol / l, as well as a persistent increase in blood pressure from 140/90 mm Hg. Art. and above.

Metabolic syndrome and our nutrition

Basically, obesity and other pathologies and diseases provoked by the metabolic syndrome are not hereditary, but acquired. And in fact, it is the quality of food (although the quantity too, but to a lesser extent) that is the cause of the metabolic chaos that occurs in the human body. So what contributes to the development of this harmful syndrome?

Amino acids (ACCC, BCAA)

These are amino acids that are extremely important for the body: they are involved in the production of protein by the human body. We get them from meat and dairy products, as well as legumes. These amino acids are widely distributed among bodybuilders. But for representatives of such an unusual sport, they (in the form of protein powder) “go” to build muscle mass, so athletes have nothing to fear. But for non-bodybuilders, an excess of such amino acids threatens to turn into fats.

It should be remembered that a considerable amount of these amino acids contains corn. And in the food industry it is very common to feed this cereal crop when raising livestock. Therefore, such beef and pork are guaranteed to be “overloaded” with BCAAs. In this connection, we recommend that you reconsider your attitude towards the above products.

Trans Fat

These artificially synthesized oils cannot be used as an energy source for the important components of our cells - mitochondria - due to their synthetic origin. Such oils can be found in industrially produced foods, a variety of baked goods, restaurant food, and "energy" chocolate bars. The technology of cooking vegetable oils is such that it inevitably leads to the loss of fat molecules of their natural formula. Therefore, you should not confuse butter made in a "healthy" way with harmful margarine.

Alcohol

In general, if you drink alcohol (and, in particular, wine) moderately - one glass daily, then, as doctors say, this measure helps to lower blood cholesterol levels.

But excessive alcohol consumption just leads to the appearance of metabolic syndrome. The situation is aggravated by the fact that manufacturers add preservatives to alcohol.

Today it is already clear that the metabolic syndrome is a new epidemic of this century, and it is subject to reduce our lives by a third. At the same time, not everyone who has this complex disorder is aware of its presence in themselves. Therefore, it is so important to know why this condition is dangerous, how it manifests itself and how to deal with it.
