3D printing technologies have become widespread in modern medicine, including aesthetic medicine. Yakup Avshar, a plastic surgeon from Turkey, uses a 3D printer in his practice.
According to Dr. Avsar, 3D images on a computer monitor do not give plastic surgeons patients a complete picture of what a particular part of their body will look like after surgery. Therefore, the Turkish specialist added 3D printing to existing 3D modeling technologies.
How does it work? The surgeon performs a three-dimensional face scan and makes the planned changes to the image, after which he prints the resulting model using a 3D printer. Now patients of Avsar, who specializes in rhinoplasty, have the opportunity not only to see the result of a future operation, but also to touch it. The surgeon's patients enthusiastically speak about the opportunity to see their own "remade" face even before the operation.
