Due to the lack of proper rest, the human body begins to work for wear and tear. The desire to keep track of everything and be in time everywhere can lead to general exhaustion, and the eyes suffer the most in this situation, because they are the main conductor of information. A sudden twitching of the eyelid is a signal that the body has failed.
The reason why the eye starts to twitch is a malfunction of the nervous system, which sends false signals (impulses) to the muscles of the face. There is a chaotic contraction of the eyelids, which provokes an involuntary tick of the muscles of the body (blepharospasm).
Nervous tics may occur when:
  • conjunctivitis;
  • head injuries;
  • impaired circulation of the brain;
  • increased intracranial pressure;
  • magnesium deficiency;
  • lack of sleep;
  • inflammation of the facial nerve.
Often the cause of the appearance of a nervous tic lies in psychological factors or overwork (both mental and physical). In addition, the occurrence of such a problem is often provoked by a deficiency of magnesium, which is an element that ensures the full functioning of the nervous system. To eliminate magnesium deficiency, it is worth eating more green vegetables, cereals, legumes, rye bread, sesame and nuts.
However, eye twitching can also signal the presence of diseases of the central nervous system. If the appearance of such a symptom is in no way related to stress, infection or overwork, you should immediately contact a neurologist.
If the tic needs to be fixed urgently (temporarily), try the three-step technique:
1) close your eyes;
2) take a deep breath and close your eyes tightly;
3) relax.
Through the use of this exercise, it is possible to get rid of the symptom for a while, but the cause of its appearance will remain unknown.
To cope with such a problem is possible with the help of sound sleep and rest for several days, because twitching of the eyelid often indicates exhaustion of the body.
If the twitching of the eye appeared as a result of stress, you can try to resort to the use of such herbal sedative preparations as hop cones, oregano lemon balm, valerian and motherwort. Thanks to these, it is possible to achieve relaxation of muscle muscles.
It is also recommended to temporarily limit yourself in the use of overly spicy and spicy foods, strong tea and coffee. If after a course of treatment with herbal sedatives the situation does not change in any way, it is better to contact a specialist who will select the sedatives that suit you.
You can also cope with nervous tension with the help of aroma oils, taking a bath, as well as in combination with an aromatic lamp. Anise and jasmine oil, sandalwood oil and grapefruit oil are excellent stress relievers.
