Contouring: the art of the perfect face (video)

Practically all girls dream of perfect facial features. Many go to great lengths to get the desired effect. But what about those who do not want to go to plastic surgeons? Solution found – contouring.

In principle, contouring – has long been a well-known method of hiding facial imperfections and "marking" the correct lines among makeup artists and celebrities. If you know the basics, have several shades of foundation and a set of brushes, then it is quite possible to apply it at home without resorting to the help of a specialist. 

The main effect is produced by the play of shadows. That is, some sections are allocated, while others – hide, making less visible. In order to hide imperfections, you need to use tonal means of darker shades or bronzers. And to highlight the advantages, on the contrary, use lighter tones. Before proceeding with contouring, the face must be prepared by applying the usual tone-leveling agents. Each part of the face has its own way of correcting, about them later.

Shading the forehead

For contouring in the forehead area, use a brown shade of foundation and a brightening cream. The first remedy is applied along the hairline, and the second – from the bridge of the nose to the hair, across the entire forehead. After that, shading, and the forehead is ready.

Highlight cheekbones

The cheekbones are the area that gets the most attention when contouring, as it is this area of ​​the face that forms the appearance. Therefore, it must be approached very carefully. A dark brown shade should be applied to the lower part of the cheekbone and a little under it. It is best to draw in the cheeks and darken the sunken part. Near the hairline, the color should be darker and more saturated, and towards the middle of the face – brighten. If the lines turned out to be very pronounced, you can shade them and add a little light tone.

Correcting the nose

The nose can also be "corrected" with the help of contouring. In order to narrow the nose, you need to lighten the back of the nose, and darken the sides, applying a dark shade along the side. And you can visually reduce the length of the nose by darkening its tip.

Worth remembering

• No red and orange tones. Not only will they not help to highlight facial features, but they will do harm, spoiling the skin tone.
• Brightening cream and highlighter should not be too shimmery. It is better to choose a shade lighter than the natural color of the skin.
• Bronzers and dark tints should also not have shimmery effect, as it looks unnatural.
