On October 28, the third conference of the scientific and educational platform Esty Derm "Alchemy and Chemistry in Aesthetic Medicine" was held in Lviv. At the event, many interesting reports were presented on the features of the production, application and behavior in tissues of preparations used in the practice of estheticians. The general sponsor of the conference was the Allergan company. In an exclusive interview for estet-portal.com, the head of the group of managers for medical public relations of the Allergan Ukraine company Alexey Filchukov spoke about the importance of evidence-based medicine and the company's ideology, and shared his impressions of the event.

Tell us about the idea of the conference "Alchemy and Chemistry in Aesthetic Medicine", what got you interested in it?

The idea of the conference, which was voiced by the organizers, interested us, and it coincides with the ideology that the Allergan company implements in Ukraine.

The idea of connecting clinical professionals with companies and professionals who produce products for aesthetic medicine and know their chemical structure is very important.

The name of the conference is spiritualistic, attracting attention. We already know a lot, we don’t know much yet, we will learn a lot. The idea of the conference is great, so we supported it.

Company "Allergan" is the main sponsor of this conference, how else did you support it?

We supported this conference, including by inviting the R&D director of hyaluronic acid filler production at Allergan, based in Pringy, France. And we are very pleased that our specialist, who has tremendous experience in the production of hyaluronic acid, and knows a lot of information, sometimes simply does not get to doctors, because someone is not interested in science, but someone is more interested in practical information, and how it is implemented when working with patients. But the interest of science is to explain complex things in simple words, and I am very pleased that today's speaker Pierre Lebreton came and shared the best practices that the Allergan company has since 2001 in the production of fillers based on hyaluronic acid. There are already several generations of fillers, the company is constantly looking for innovative methods in both production and development to ensure the safety of products for work. As Pierre said, when we are in production - every time we think about those patients to whom this product will be applied. And this is a very high responsibility, including on the company that manufactures these fillers.

How important do you think evidence-based medicine is today?

Aesthetic medicine is developing very intensively, and I think that the importance of evidence-based medicine is growing every day, month and year. The number of drugs and techniques offered on the aesthetic medicine market today sometimes seems too large. And in order to understand them, it is very important for doctors and specialists practicing in aesthetic medicine to see what studies were conducted, how the safety of the drug was proven, and what are the long-term results of its use, because doctors will answer this question to patients. Of course, the cooperation of science and people who conduct clinical research, prove the safety of products and study their behavior in the body - this information is essential for practicing doctors to be calm in that product,

In your opinion, should aesthetic medicine professionals attend events such as today's conference?

A call to all practitioners: We are in a world that is constantly changing. Each of you received knowledge at a medical institute or university, accumulated it during your practical activities, but do not stop!

Knowledge comes like an avalanche, every year something new appears, indications expand, methods are revised somewhere, protocols are created somewhere.
Returning to evidence-based medicine and protocols, a very good option that is now available in aesthetic medicine – this is the MD Codes™ system developed by Maurizio de Mayo. We are also talking about this a lot now, and we urge doctors to use protocols in aesthetic medicine, because, I repeat, aesthetic medicine, like all medical specialties, loves protocols. And, of course, aesthetic medicine specialists always have the opportunity, like real artists, to create, create images for their patients, if we are talking about facial modeling, or to decorate and make their faces more beautiful.
