Thousands of books can be written about what a woman wants. Plastic surgeons will add: and what a man really wants, you can write no less — It turns out that the stronger sex, no less than the fair sex, delves into the latest beauty procedures, actively tests them on itself, while showing unprecedented demands on the specialist.
About purely male requirements for beauty procedures, the connection of cosmetology with plastic surgery, as well as individual details, by adjusting which, you can make our face more masculine or feminine, MD, PhD, professor of facial aesthetics in Seville told estet-portal.com University, aesthetic dentist and facial esthetician, Ascot, Berkshire, UK Bob Hanna.
Is it true that men are less interested in external beauty, because in nature the male is always more beautiful than the female?
B.H.: Everyone who believes that men have given up on beauty for a long time, are deeply mistaken. Maybe they're just a little more secretive — better hide their interest in aesthetic medicine. It's also likely that most men aren't macho enough to go out and say out loud, "Yeah, I care about how I look." You correctly noticed: in terms of beauty in nature, the opposite is true. Just look at the peacocks. Male peacocks go out of their way to attract the attention of a female — here you have a gorgeous flowing tail, and inviting dances.
Now, in 2018, striving to take care of themselves, men feel more confident and do not hesitate to admit it when they go to the beautician.
The desire of men to look good is supported by women, advertising and the media. Today, the image of a man who goes to a beautician and buys skin care products carries only a positive meaning.
Do male and female requirements for beauty differ?
B.H.: As you already know from my reports, I don't even wonder if there are differences in male and female aesthetics and self-care — certainly, and at the same time significant. The doctor should pay attention, moreover — respect and in every possible way emphasize a significant difference. I am all for the fact that the stronger sex preserves and maintains its masculinity, leaving for the lady their natural right to remain feminine.
I am sincerely sorry to see a sad and not at all natural picture on the street, when masculine young ladies and mannerly sophisticated men walk along the alleys.
There are significant physiological differences, thanks to which you can look and say: this is — man, but this — woman. For example, let's look at the forehead area on the face. In men, it is flatter than in women, whose forehead is more rounded. It is unnatural for the stronger sex to have chubby cheeks: it is clearly feminine, especially in the central part. Women look natural and attractive with voluminous cheeks. But for men, it is better that the adipose tissue in the cheek area is evenly distributed.
Now about the nose: in men it is more prominent, and the profile as a whole is pronounced — both in length and width. Most often, physiologically in women, the nose is smaller, with an accentuated protruding tip.
As for the lips, in men they are thinner and approximately equal in thickness, while in women — more complete, voluminous. For men, the volume of the lips is not so important: the stronger sex looks attractive with small but symmetrical lips, and not too sharp, but still well-defined cupid's arc. Of course, there are exceptions to any rule: for example, George Clooney really suits thin lip contour.
Everyone is delighted with Clooney, and now pay attention to his lips: if you look closely, we will see that he has practically no lips!
Yet the most masculine part of the face can rightly be called the jaw line and chin. Slightly lower set, "strong" chin — a characteristic feature of what we are accustomed to call a manly face. This — a sure sign of increased testosterone levels in the body, which women love so much. With the fair sex, the pattern works exactly the opposite: not a single woman has a well-defined, strong, masculine jaw. They look much better with a neat, narrow chin and an oval rather than a square face.
Women with square jaws and big chins look inappropriately aggressive and dominant. A good plastic surgeon will do everything to make the stronger sex look masculine, and the ladies — graceful, attractive and as feminine as possible.
How do you feel about the fact that the world of high fashion makes women look masculine?
B.H.: I think the only good thing about this whole story is that modern beauty standards promote brightly defined, memorable facial contours, and such a picture always looks attractive and will find its audience. Of course, moderation is important in everything. Qualitatively «drawn» with the help of plastics, the cheekbones look pretty, but if you overdo it and lower them too much, making a square out of an oval face, — the result will be too masculine and therefore — laughable and repulsive.
I do not argue, some girls are very, very fit with this form, but for most — absolutely not. Well-defined cheekbones make it much easier to apply makeup, it's true. The work of a plastic surgeon — make-up artist's help: the better the "drawn" part of the face with a scalpel, the less work is left for the brush.
Who is the less demanding patient — male or female?
B.H.: Interesting question! Contrary to popular belief about limitless exactingness, even if you want — harmfulness of women, I want to say that men can be demanding, complex and problematic. It is more difficult for men to come to the clinic, it will take them longer to admit that they did something in order to look younger. The strong sex is busy with something else: every day they are waiting for another vertical race, where they need to prove to everyone — and first of all to myself, — what are you — successful, number one — in short, the best of the best.
The main goal of men's visits to a plastic surgeon is to look better, but naturally. So that no one would guess about visiting the clinic. To make the face younger, but so that the visit to the plastic surgeon is not noticeable — the task is not an easy one. At the same time, women can hardly be called dream patients.
Often ladies come to your office — and they don't know what they want.
I talk a lot with my patients, build models and visually explain what we can achieve, as well as which of the realistic results will look good in their particular case. It is important for a doctor to be able to refuse: personally, I will defend my professional opinion to the end and agree to perform an operation only if it changes the face of my client for the better. Self-treatment can be dangerous for your health not only in classical but also in aesthetic medicine. If a patient doesn't listen to me, that's not my patient.
