The appearance of a rash on the face and in particular in the nose area is not something out of the ordinary – pimples periodically appear on the face of each person and often disappear without a trace after a few days. People seek medical help if the rash occupies a large area of the skin and stubbornly recurs. In this case, one has to think about the presence of a dermatological disease that requires special treatment. One of these diseases is eczema of the nose – an inflammatory process of the skin that disfigures the face and disrupts the quality of human life. Treatment of nasal eczema with the help of a competent doctor helps to effectively eliminate the problem.
Classification of eczema: main types of rash on the face
Eczema of the nose – This is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin of the nose, which is characterized by the development of an acute serous inflammatory process with the appearance of a rash on the face in the vestibule of the nose and upper lip. The most common cause of eczema is a staphylococcal or streptococcal infection. There are four main types of nasal eczema:
- true (idiopathic) eczema – the appearance of edematous erythema with the appearance of a rash on the face in the form of small vesicles with weeping and the formation of crusts on the skin;
- microbial eczema – characterized by the appearance of a rash on the face in the area of chronic foci of infection in the form of inflammatory large scalloped limited foci;
- seborrheic eczema – develops in areas of the skin rich in sebaceous glands (scalp, face, etc.) in the form of erythematous spots that are flaky;
- occupational eczema – a rash on the face occurs on exposed areas of the skin as a result of exposure to harmful substances.
Clinical presentation of nasal eczema: main symptoms
The clinical picture of nasal eczema is characterized, first of all, by the appearance of a polymorphic rash on the face: redness, swelling, weeping of facial skin, most often in the vestibule of the nose and upper lip. The epidermis may slough off or become weepy. In addition to the appearance of a rash on the face, patients complain of itching, microcracks in the skin of the face, crusts and cracks in the vestibule of the nose. At the same time, the general condition of the patient is not disturbed, the body temperature remains normal, there are no symptoms of intoxication. During eczema, 3 main phases are distinguished: erythematous, in which only redness and swelling of the skin is observed, an erosive or weeping stage, and a squamous phase – peeling stage. Nasal erythema is a disease that predisposes to the occurrence of other inflammatory processes on the skin of the face.
Treatment of nasal eczema: how to deal with a rash on the face
The treatment of eczema is exclusively conservative. First of all, it is necessary to identify and eliminate the causative agent of the disease, for this purpose, the patient is prescribed antibiotic therapy in the form of ointment dressings with antibiotics. In parallel with this, the patient is prescribed antihistamines, detoxification drugs, immunomodulators and vitamin therapy. Physiotherapy methods have also proven themselves well in the fight against nasal eczema. In more severe cases, a course of corticosteroid therapy and glucocorticoid ointments with antibiotics are recommended. The treatment regimen should be selected individually for each patient. Early treatment of eczema with the help of a competent specialist will help get rid of the rash on the face once and for all.
