Modern patients strive to get the most harmonious and natural result. But often they do not see that age-related changes affect not only one specific area, but the entire face. Therefore, it is an important task for the doctor to explain the need for complex correction to obtain a beautiful and lasting result.
A full member of the All-Ukrainian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, a member of the Association of Preventive Anti-Edging Medicine, plastic surgeon Volodymyr Pirus spoke about the secrets of an integrated approach especially for estet-portal.com.
Why is it important to use a comprehensive approach in working with patients?
V.P.: Each person is an individual, and I will not say that everyone necessarily needs an integrated approach. Young patients have minor changes and problems that sometimes require a clear local, one might say, point impact. If we talk about patients of the older age group, then, as a rule, you need to understand that these are changes not only in one zone.
Patients are most often focused on only one thing, such as nasolabial folds or forehead wrinkles. But they look from a very limited point of view – from the point of view of contemplating ourselves in the mirror, and we look at them from the point of view of the world around us, the people around us.
Our job is to be a guide for the patient, and to correctly point out some things that we can improve.
But, as a rule, we are looking for a complex solution, because some areas are anatomically connected, and by improving, for example, the middle area of the face, we can indirectly improve the lower third or the area of the nasolabial folds. Therefore, very often, knowing the correct methods from the point of view of physiology, understanding how biomechanically the fillers act, gives us the opportunity to work miracles and get a harmonious result.

In which areas should the doctor be especially careful?
V.P.: There are anatomically dangerous zones if the doctor still feels insecure in this area, if his knowledge and skills are not enough to work safely in this zone – that is what should be avoided. In general, with knowledge of anatomy and the use of safety techniques, you can work even in the most complex anatomical zones – This is already a certain level, certain skills. It is very important to be critical of yourself and make a decision only when you are confident in your knowledge and skills. If this is not – better bypass this area for now.
It is also important to use preparations that meet high quality requirements, and this applies not only to physical and chemical characteristics, but also to the degree of purification of the product, its study.
Why do you love your job, what fascinates you about it?
V.P.: As a doctor, I have a great amount of knowledge of basic sciences: anatomy, physiology, chemistry, and I also have clinical knowledge, but I am also a creative person, which means – I can create.
For me, my work – it is such an exciting process that spurs me on to further steps, to self-improvement.
Because the better your results, the more patients you have, and the more patients you have, the more professional growth, because you always have to meet a certain level. I love my job, first of all, because there is always room for creativity in it.
