Идеальная волюметрическая коррекция лица: оценка профиля по методу ВК P-Line

The profile sets the tone for the three-dimensional aesthetics of the face and therefore requires the close attention of the practitioner during the examination and diagnosis of the patient before performing volumetric correction. So, based on his 27 years of clinical practice, says Professor Bob Khanna (Bob Khanna).

In this article, the doctor talks about his method of assessing the patient profile, which allows you to determine the necessary degree of volumization of various areas of the face to obtain the most natural and attractive correction results.

Description of the P-Line VC Method for Patient Profile Assessment

An important component of the diagnosis and preparation of a plan for facial rejuvenation are high-quality photos that facilitate the process of communication and coordination of the necessary aesthetic procedures with the patient.

Based on the obtained images, the author, using the BK P-1–BK P-3 parameters, determines the ratio of the forehead, nose, lips, chin and lower jaw line to determine the target areas for correction (Fig. 2). A comprehensive analysis of all parameters allows us to determine not only the feasibility, but also the optimal degree of forehead, nose, lips and chin augmentation.

A comprehensive profile analysis using the VK P-Line method allows you to determine not only the feasibility, but also the optimal degree of forehead, nose, lips and chin augmentation.

BK P-0
BK P-0 – a horizontal straight line that connects the central points of the tragus of the ear and the alar of the nose. It should be straight and parallel to the floor – this will ensure standardization of before and after photos.

BK P-1
The BK P-1 line runs vertically through the most prominent point of the upper lip. Having determined this line, pay attention to the soft tissue zones in the area between the eyebrows, nasion and pogonion. For each of the points, the author indicated the exact range in millimeters, which will help determine the degree of augmentation needed (varies depending on the gender, as well as the ethnicity of the patient).

BK P-2
The BK P-2 line runs from the most prominent point of the tip of the nose to the pogonion and makes it possible to evaluate the projection of the lips. This allows you to determine the space available for augmentation and subsequent projection. In some cases, it is advisable to contact the patient's lower and upper lips with the BK P-2 line.

If the VC P-2 line is initially in contact with the lips, the author recommends refraining from augmenting this zone; in this case, it is better to limit yourself to drugs that provide the effect of hydration, rejuvenation and minimal volumization. Otherwise, there is a risk of compromising attractive facial proportions and unnatural results.

Important aspects of lip augmentation: not only size matters

VK R-3
VK R-3 – a vertical line that runs perpendicular to VC P-0 and crosses the anterior part of the cornea of the eye. It allows you to determine the degree of projection of the anterior section of the middle part of the face. The middle third of the face plays an important role in the aesthetics of the profile, since the correction of its projection, in particular, the anteromedial part of the cheeks, allows to reduce the projection of the nose.

Fig. 1: it is not possible to assess the possible lack of support in the lower part of the face without a profile analysis (before and after photos of chin and mandibular augmentation)

Of course, in addition to the profile, it is necessary to consider other angles, such as three-quarters and full face – they can be used to determine the main indicators (angles, length and width), which will allow you to identify the degree of required augmentation based on the proportions of the face.

Photos before and after volumetric face correction: basic rules

Quality photos before and after aesthetic procedures – not only a powerful marketing tool, but also a clear proof of the effectiveness of the correction.

Main rules for before and after photos – consistency and reproducibility.

When photographing a patient, you should take into account:

•    body position;

•    lighting;

•    camera settings;

•    shooting device;

•    expression of the patient's face, etc.

All of the above conditions should ideally be the same for pre- and post-procedure photography.

Quality photos before and after aesthetic procedures – not only a powerful marketing tool, but also a clear proof of the effectiveness of the correction.

Volumetric Face Correction Procedure

As a rule, the author performs augmentation in two sessions.

If necessary, the author first works with the forehead area, and then moves on to the nose and middle third of the face (including the nasolacrimal grooves and cheeks), the chin and the line of the lower jaw. Lastly, the author volumizes the lips – this zone is the final stage of volumetric face correction.

Vertical division and injection techniques for facial contouring

A patient profile assessment followed by a 3D facial analysis allows you to identify areas that are characterized by a lack of volumes and to individualize the approach to facial rejuvenation of any patient.
