Competent post-procedural care largely determines the result of the cosmetic correction. In order to speed up rehabilitation and improve the effect after minimally invasive interventions, topical products based on hyaluronic acid with different properties and characteristics of this substance are used.
The Teoxane company (Geneva, Switzerland) conducted a scientific study on how the topical use of elastic hyaluronic acid (RHA serum) affects the skin, and shared the results with estet-portal.com readers.
What is the role of different types of hyaluronic acid in skin care serums
Over the past two decades, variations in the molecular weight, concentration and structuring of hyaluronic acid (HA) in cosmetics have resulted in many products with different properties on the market.
The topical remedies with different structuring of the HA are of particular interest. For example, preparations based on unreticulated HA are considered to have strong moisturizing properties. They are due to the effect of the HA molecule, which can attract and bind a thousand times more water molecules than its own weight.
Detailed Forehead Wrinkle Correction Protocol
The rationale for using non-reticulated HA of various molecular weights in topical formulations is usually based on their perceived permeability to the skin. However, there is controversy about the ability of unstructured HA to penetrate the dermis through the stratum corneum.
Laboratory Teoxane SA (Geneva, Switzerland) from "Academy of Scientific Beauty" conducted a prospective, double-blind, randomized study of facial therapy with reticulated hyaluronic acid serum. The aim of this study was to investigate the innovative reticulated HA in Firming Serum (RHA) and its ability to improve the clinical outcomes of cosmetic treatments for aging skin. The results were published in J Drugs Dermatol. 2018; 17(4):442-450.
How did the skin care serum research work
The study looked at the topical use of elastic hyaluronic acid (RHA serum) to improve clinical outcomes after fillers, mesotherapy, or chemical peels for aging skin.
24 women aged 35-55 were selected by the training center (Dermscan, Poland) from a group of healthy volunteers.
All had dry facial skin and a history of prior cosmetic procedures such as injections, microneedling or chemical peels. The criteria for this study were the presence of signs of aging, such as fine lines, sagging skin, or a dull complexion.
The test-takers were divided into groups of 8 people and different procedures were performed for each of them:
• intradermal hyaluronic injections;
• superficial chemical peeling with mandelic acid;
• Dermoroller treatment with aloe vera extract ampoule.
Two days after the procedure, patients used a standard amount of RHA serum 2 times a day on one of the parts of the face. Topographic picture, bioinstrumental and blind clinical studies were carried out in the context of 0, 14, and 28 days.
What results have you achieved with reticulated skin care serum
Post-treatment areas of the face treated with RHA serum showed sustained statistically significant improvements in skin topography and hydration compared to untreated areas. RHA Serum)

Blind scoring showed improvement in skin treated with RHA serum in hydration, tone/complexion, radiance, texture , uniformity and appearance. The test subjects expressed greater satisfaction with the well-groomed part. No side effects were observed during the study.

Thus, based on the study data, the value of topical cross-linked hyaluronic acid (in RHA serum) has been shown to improve treatment outcomes and satisfaction after minimally invasive aesthetic procedures.
Integrating topical RHA into treatment regimens is a comprehensive, patient-tailored strategy that promises multi-level synergistic benefits. A study from Teoxane Laboratories (

) confirmed that RHA serum can make a difference in improving outcomes and patient satisfaction after micro-invasive aesthetic procedures.
The combination of topical products with cosmetic procedures provides the opportunity to directly improve outcomes and improve patient satisfaction.
