ISAPS Congress - a unique event in the world of plastic surgery

On May 19 and 20, for the first time in Ukraine, a grandiose program was presented within the framework of the International Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons ISAPS. The Congress was organized by ISAPS National Secretary Pavel Andreyevich Denishchuk. The congress program included presentations and lectures by the world's leading experts in the field of plastic surgery, such as Alan Fogli, Alex Verpaele, Nuri Selik, Daniel Cassuto and Nikolai Serdev. The conference participants also had the opportunity to watch video demonstrations and video presentations of surgical interventions performed by specialists. Especially for the readers of estet-portal.com, Pavel Andreevich spoke about what inspired him to organize such an important event, and discussing what topical issues of plastic surgery was the main goal of the ISAPS congress.

Pavel Andreevich, today's ISAPS congress is certainly an important event for the world of plastic surgery. Tell us what inspired you to organize it?

Firstly, I will say that plastic surgery has existed in Ukraine for decades, and I have been working in plastic surgery for 20 years. And when every year, several times a year, I attended different events in different countries, I was visited by the thought “In Ukraine, unfortunately, there is no such thing.”

I have been the ISAPS national secretary for two years already, and when I became one, I immediately set myself the goal: "We will do this in Ukraine!".

And we have been moving towards this for a long time, there were a lot of questions, for well-known reasons, they did not want to come to us, but thanks to our firm conviction, we still reached an agreement with the leadership of the international association. The professors agreed to come to us, and now we have the opportunity to open this wonderful event for plastic surgery.

What topical issues of modern plastic surgery would you like to raise during the ISAPS congress, and what is the reason for this?

Face! Face – this is where we all look. It is difficult to hide it, and in plastic surgery, and in aesthetic medicine, this is the most important place. Of course, we wanted to start with such significant parts of the body, and just determined the possibilities of surgical restoration, facial rejuvenation, and the correction of its various defects.

The conference includes a video demonstration of some of the operations. Why did you choose to include such an original learning "element" in the to the ISAPS Congress program?

I, again, from my experience of various events abroad, I know that many surgeons speak positively about such active, lively moments of communication.

We definitely decided to include live surgery in the program of the ISAPS congress, because only in this way the surgeon can really see and feel whether he is doing the right thing, how best to do what the noble grandees of plastic surgery are doing.

Live surgery is very important for the surgeon's learning process.

Conference participants will present their own methods of some operations. What new author's methods would you like to share with your colleagues?

Today, an important topic among the trends in plastic surgery – these are combinations of minimally invasive techniques with plastic surgery to minimize trauma. This allows the patient to get the best result with the shortest rehabilitation period. All my developments and innovations are congruent with this direction. In particular, I always combine rejuvenating plastic surgery on the face with either lipofilling or volumetric methods, because a lift can flatten the face a little. I also have my patented developments of a three-level approach to facial rejuvenation, that is, a multifaceted effect: reducing volumes in the lower third of the face and increasing them in the upper third, which is lost with age.

In your opinion, how important is it to use elements of restorative cosmetology in the rehabilitation period after plastic surgery?

It must be. I can even say more: in the clinic «ANA-COSMO» we carry out not only postoperative rehabilitation, but also prepare patients for surgery. That is, beauticians prepare the patient's skin before surgery. It may take a week or two and depends on the capabilities of the patient, but then the result of the operation and the operation itself are much better, the patient recovers faster. My reports necessarily end with information about how I rehabilitate patients. I give out my developed methods for the rehabilitation of patients after operations not only on the face, but also on the whole body.
