Микротоковая терапия: эффекты, преимущества, техники

Hardware cosmetology is widely used in aesthetic medicine, as it includes the knowledge of specialists, devices for physiotherapy, preparations with active components. Thanks to this complex, with the help of hardware techniques, it is possible to influence aesthetic imperfections of the skin, age-related tissue changes, body fat, and also use them in the treatment of dermatological pathologies. Read on estet-portal.com about techniques such as microcurrent therapy, its application for the correction of aesthetic defects and age-related changes in the skin.

Why Microcurrent Therapy Should Be Used: Effects and Properties

Microcurrent therapy is a group of methods using weak pulsed currents: MENS and TENS. MENS – microcurrent neuromuscular electrical stimulation - affects the regenerative processes in the skin, reduces pain. TENS – transcutaneous nerve electrical stimulation - has a transcutaneous effect on nerve fibers, while reducing pain.

Microcurrents are pulses modulated by  low amplitude electric current (40-1000 µA) at a frequency 0.1-500 Hz.

A feature of microcurrent therapy is the free penetration of microcurrents into cells and influence on biochemical processes: by acting on the cell membrane, they improve metabolism, increase the activity of potassium-dependent enzymes, stimulate the synthesis of ATP, proteins, lipids.

Microcurrents are an effective way to deliver the active ingredients of drugs into the deep layers of the skin. Due to this property, they are able to stimulate the metabolism in the cell, to tone weakened muscles, which are the cause of a blurry facial contour and a factor in the development of wrinkles.

Microcurrent therapy has anti-age effect, stimulating  synthesis of collagen and elastin, prevents the appearance of signs of aging. At the same time, weak impulse currents have a mild effect on the epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous fatty tissue, blood vessels, and muscles. They do not cause visible muscle contraction, but stimulate cellular metabolism while restoring muscle fibers. The use of microcurrents stimulates the activity of the immune system, due to the migration of immune cells to the affected area.

Microcurrent therapy also has a lymphatic drainage effect, some analgesic effect, improves tissue microcirculation, toning the smooth muscles of blood vessels.  The action of microcurrents does not cause discomfort during the procedure, slight tingling is acceptable.

Myolifting technique: indications, contraindications

Myolifting procedure is used for conservative correction of age-related changes in facial contours, smoothing wrinkles.

Under the influence of microcurrents, conditions are created for the synthesis of collagen and elastin fibers, the tone of mimic muscles is restored, lymphatic drainage is carried out, fluid stagnation in the subcutaneous fatty tissue is eliminated. In this way, the factors of stretching and sagging of the skin are eliminated.

Among the main indications are:

  • Edema and pastosity,
  • Blurred facial contour,
  • Deformation type of aging,

Microcurrent therapy

is carried out in three stages:

    Microcurrent lymphatic drainage
  1. – current 80-300 μA, frequency – 5-10 Hz, duration – 10 minutes. When working in the active position, one electrode is stationary, while the other moves towards it with uniform pressure, at a distance of no more than 3-5 centimeters.
  2. Microcurrent Stimulation
  3. – current 20-40 μA, duration 20-25 minutes, frequency – 10 Hz. It is recommended to perform in the active position, taking into account the structure of the muscles of the face and neck.
  4. Electrophoresis
  5. – current 200-400 µA, frequency 200-400 Hz, duration – 7-8 minutes. The electrodes should be led in different directions from each other, lightly touching the skin.
  6. Weak impulse currents should not pass through the area of the carotid artery, heart, eyeball.
Total duration

of the procedure is 45-55 minutes. To achieve the claimed effect, patients should be recommended to 10-15 sessions every other day, as well as maintenance therapy every 6 months.

Contraindications

to microcurrent therapy are pregnancy, cardiac arrhythmias, the presence of metal structures in the body, artificial pacemakers, oncological diseases, epilepsy, a period of less than 3 months after chemical peels, plastic surgery . The use of

microcurrent therapy

in practice will speed up the elimination of external skin defects, correct age-related changes, and remove the consequences of some dermatological pathologies.
