Aesthetic medicine – this is one of the few medical specialties that mainly works not with pathological conditions, but with physiological changes in the body, and with the correction of aesthetic deficiencies. In such matters, it is very important to find a middle ground, satisfying the needs of the patient, but, at the same time, without doing anything extra. This is especially true of injectable lip correction, where the rule "the more the better" does not work in favor of beauty and aesthetics. The doctor of aesthetic medicine Denis Malevich talks about minimalism and maximalism in aesthetic lip correction especially for readers of estet-portal.com.

What do you mean by minimalism and maximalism in aesthetic lip correction?

This is one of the most basic topics, sometimes you can even say that this is the most basic problem. Minimalism or maximalism? When it is right to look at a patient, should he be allowed to increase, for example, his lips more, or, after all, should he be stopped? This is a very big problem, because if we refuse a patient and he does not get what he wants, he will go to another clinic or to another specialist, and there are times when he can get complications there. Some moments may fall on you, and your conscience will torment you, because you could do this procedure, the patient would not have complications, and everything would be fine. And you need to choose the right methods so as not to send the patient away, not to offend him, but, perhaps, to coordinate for changes and correction of another zone, because this is already like a kind of drug.

Injections are tantamount to plus 10% to a woman's self-confidence, and this is really the most important drug they have in their lives.

How can a specialist refuse a patient who asks for aesthetic lip correction that he does not need?

In my practice we can say that the shape and volume of the lips is sufficient and it looks very good. In principle, it is possible to offer other services that will emphasize the appearance and image of the patient.

What other procedures do you perform for aesthetic facial correction?

For example, there are a lot of complaints when patients want to do rhinoplasty, but they understand that it is very expensive. But it often happens that a person has a weak chin, and, due to this, all attention falls on the nose. If we beautifully perform aesthetic correction of the chin, and harmoniously make lips – then we have everything together, and the patient looks very aesthetically pleasing.

How often in your practice do you have to perform lip correction for men?

So far, in my practice, I have not had this. But, for example, if such a thought had once visited me, I would still have applied for this procedure to a female cosmetologist. It's kind of equivalent.

If you look at the attitude of women towards doctors, they tend to choose a male plastic surgeon.

If there was an opportunity, and it would be more developed - they would choose a male cosmetologist, a specialist in applied aesthetics. Similarly, a man, because he will treat a woman with great confidence, and will understand that her look is more aesthetic. In turn, women know that if a man does the procedure, then he will do it the way men like it.
