Estet-portal continues to acquaint its readers with AMWC novelties. This time we present to you the RegenKit BCT kit from RegenLab, which allows you to quickly and safely process autologous platelet-rich plasma.

What is the A-PRP

A-PRP – this is autologous platelet-rich plasma. This plasma is obtained as follows: the doctor takes a small amount of venous blood and separates the red blood cells from the platelet concentrate contained in the patient's own plasma. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes. Since autologous platelet-rich plasma is produced from the patient's own blood, there is no risk of allergy or rejection due to this procedure.

Composition of autologous platelet-rich plasma

Platelets are key factors in the mechanisms of soft and bone tissue repair. They are sources of essential growth factors FGF, PDGF, TGF-ß, EGF, VEGF, IGF, which are involved in the migration, differentiation and proliferation of stem cells. Stimulation of fibroblasts and endothelial cells contributes to the accumulation of extracellular matrix and neovascularization (formation of new blood vessels).

Plasma is essential for cell survival as it contains nutrients, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes and proteins. Proteins – these are key elements for the process of coagulation and the formation of the fibrin polymer, which is the basis for cell migration, differentiation and proliferation.

Optimal platelet concentration

Regen BCT tube prepares 4 – 5 ml of autologous platelet-rich plasma with a platelet recovery rate above 80% and a concentration factor of 1.6. While the system is technically capable of producing high concentrations of platelets, such concentrations are not optimal for clinical use. Studies show that platelet concentrations above baseline by 1 – 3 times, provide a more stable healing rate than concentrations exceeding this level of 3 – 8 times.

In fact, the results of studies show the negative effects of too high concentrations of platelets. An in vivo study showed that preparations with a high concentration of platelets suppressed the activity of osteoblasts. A possible reason for this suppression is the unwanted inhibitory and cytotoxic effect of growth factors at such high concentrations. Also in the course of a study conducted in the laboratory, it was found that the concentration of platelets exceeding the required 2.5 times leads to a decrease in proliferation and adversely affects the function of osteoblasts.

Leukocytes in tissue regeneration

The WBC count in Regen BCN A-PRP is significantly lower (greater than 85% reduction).
The role of leukocytes in healing – topic of medical discussion. To approach this issue from a scientific point of view, it is necessary to separately consider the subpopulations of leukocytes, granulocytes and mononuclear cells. Granulocytes, or rather neutrophils, are at the forefront of protecting the body from pathogens and are involved in the body's inflammatory reactions. They produce a large amount of antimicrobial substances and proteases. Uncontrolled production of these factors can lead to severe tissue damage, delay healing, and increase the risk of scarring. With RegenKit BCT technology, more than 96% of granulocytes are removed from autologous platelet-rich plasma.

The small number of leukocytes present in autologous platelet-rich plasma are predominantly mononuclear cells (lymphocytes and monocytes). These two types of cells are also involved in the immune response, but they contribute to the healing process.

Benefits of RegenKit BCT

  • Simplicity: for cooking 4 – 5 ml of autologous platelet-rich plasma only takes a few steps.
  • Amount of blood required for preparation: 8 ml total.
  • Optimum platelet recovery: 80% of platelets can be recovered from whole blood.
  • Permanent isolation of platelet-rich plasma: RegenKit BCT uses a physical barrier (thixotropic gel) to separate red blood cells from plasma and precipitate cells. Cooking is safe and stable.
  • RBC count reduction: 99.7%.

The RegenKit BCT product line is US FDA approved for the safe and rapid preparation of autologous platelet-rich plasma (A-PRP) from a small blood sample at the point of care. Platelet-rich plasma is mixed with one's own or allogeneic bone graft before being injected into the body. RegenKit BCT kits are for single use only.

During Day 1 of the 13th International Anti-Aging Medicine Congress AMWC 2015, estet-portal.com also caught the attention of this procedure. Ion Magnum is a program for non-surgical and non-invasive weight loss. However, this device can also be used for a non-surgical facelift:
