The progressive development of science in recent decades has opened up many new opportunities for modern aesthetic medicine. The emergence of new hardware and injection techniques has made it possible to significantly influence not only the appearance of patients, but also their quality of life in general. One of the most impressive and in-demand techniques now is PRP therapy, which involves the use of patients' own plasma enriched with platelets. This technique is applicable to the correction of almost any part of the body.

Especially for the readers of estet-portal.com, an obstetrician-gynecologist of the first category, a dermatovenereologist and a specialist in intimate contouring Shavrina Nina Georgievna spoke about the features of using PRP therapy to correct the intimate zone.

What are the indications for the use of PRP therapy in gynecology?

In gynecology  we apply  PRP therapy after conization of the cervix, in the treatment of infertility, by introducing platelet-rich plasma into the uterine cavity. If a woman has synechia after frequent curettage, infertility due to ectopic pregnancy – this procedure improves trophism, nutrition and tissue angiogenesis. PRP Therapy – it is also a very effective procedure for correcting the intimate area.

For what purposes can PRP therapy be used in the intimate area?

PRP technologies – it is a regenerative medicine that repairs, restructures the dermis, and rejuvenates. This method acts specifically on fibroblasts.

There are growth factors on the membrane of platelets, there are 170 of them, and they just affect fibroblasts.

The stimulation of these cells results in an improvement in the quality of the dermis and angiogenesis, and this means trophic improvements, both in the mucosa and in the dermis.  Required condition – get a whole, not destroyed platelet shell. If we centrifuge on conventional centrifuges, do not follow the methodology and protocols, and do not obtain a whole platelet cell, then the fibroblast is not stimulated to the necessary extent, and the plasma does not play any role when it enters the dermis.

What methods can be combined with PRP-therapy for the correction of the intimate area?

I have combined PRP with mesothreads and have had great results. After inserting the mesothread, through the same puncture, I inject the woman with her own platelet-rich plasma. Thus, two functions are immediately performed: both tissue reinforcement and, at the same time, regeneration of the dermis starts. After all, aging of the dermis – this is its complete thinning, deterioration in the production of collagen, elastin, and so on, and due to the combination of PRP therapy with threadlifting, double stimulation occurs, that is, we double the effect, and get a very good result.

In your opinion, are there any disadvantages of PRP therapy?

I didn't see any disadvantages, because this is the patient's own plasma enriched with platelets. If the protocol of the procedure is not followed, and the centrifuge is not selected for those revolutions and minutes that are necessary to obtain a whole platelet shell, of course, this technique will not work. A very important role is played by the correct selection of patients who must not have acute inflammatory diseases, herpes, and oncological diseases. Is it possible to perform the procedure during pregnancy – this is a debatable question, but, in principle, I don’t see any clear contraindications.

What are the nuances of PRP-therapy should the doctor remember in order to get the best possible effect from this procedure?

First of all, the procedure should only be performed by a dermatovenereologist who graduated from a medical institute with a degree in general medicine, and has a specialization in dermatovenereology and cosmetology.

It is very important to follow the rules of septic and antiseptic, correctly follow the protocol of the procedure, remember what side effects can be.

Personally, I do Maurizio Ceccarelli's PRP therapy, which works great. I am very satisfied and adore my teacher. But there are many developments, and they work effectively both in the intimate area and throughout the body. PRP therapy is very well used for older women, this method always gives a positive result.
