Shatkarmas or “6 actions” – it is a system of yogic cleansing of the body. Thanks to such a set of measures, consisting of both simple and rather complex techniques, it is possible to get rid of imbalances in the body. Shatkarmas correspond to the holistic approach of Ayurveda: repair so that it does not break down in the future, heal so that it strengthens the entire system at once. There are many more practices in line with Shatkarma, and 6 of them are aimed at cleansing the body.

Ayurvedic cleansing of the body. Shatkarm Circle of Practice

  1. Neti. This is the most popular Shatkarma technique and is recommended for frequent use, especially during the cold season. During Neti, the nose is rinsed with salted water. This technique is easy to master, it will take no more than 5-10 minutes.ayurvedicheskoe-ochishchenie-organizma-krug-praktik-shatkarm
  2. Dhautis are various methods of cleansing the body. The most important techniques here are Agnisara-dhauti (Agnisara-kriya) – cleansing breath to improve digestion, as well as Vaman-dhauti in the form of Kunjal-kriya or yogic vomiting. Experienced yogis regularly practice Agnisara-kriya, sometimes they also use Shankha-Prakshalanakriya, which is a rather complex cleansing. This technique consists of many stages and takes about three hours to complete, but such a cleansing of the body is carried out only 1-3 times a year.
  3. Nauli. This body cleansing technique is an order of magnitude more complicated than Agnisara-dhauti and more important. In order to master it, it may take a lot of time, because you need to learn how to control the abdominal muscles. This practice isolates and contracts the rectus abdominis muscles.

Thanks to this massage, it is possible to eliminate indigestion, constipation, fight high acidity, flatulence, depression, genitourinary and hormonal disorders. At the same time, the healing effect of such a technique for cleansing the body occurs already after a couple of minutes after execution.

  1. Busty– cleansing the colon with a yoga enema (honey, coffee, etc.). Such a procedure is not carried out constantly, only if the state of health requires it, or 1-2 times a season in order to cleanse the body.
  2. Kapalabhati is a cleansing breathing technique that is quite simple and does not take much time. It is regularly given 1-10 minutes to complete.
  3. 6. Tratak. During the execution of this technique, a close contemplation of the object takes place, which contributes to the healing of the eyes. Tratak is often practiced on a candle flame.

Some techniques of yogic cleansing of the body can be used as a treatment, and some are quite suitable for prevention. It is important to keep in mind that these cleansing methods are not universal, and the more often the better strategy will not work here. Many techniques are beyond the power of beginners and without prior training in the form of mastering simpler techniques, it is better not to perform complex cleansing of the body.
