Герпетиформный дерматит: симптоматика и особенности лечения

This pathology has a second name – Dühring's disease. Modern medicine does not have an exact answer to the question of what is the root cause of dermatitis herpetiformis.

In most cases (90%), patients with a confirmed diagnosis are determined by individual intolerance to the gluten protein, which is present in large quantities in mainly cereal plants.

Referring to this fact, many doctors talk about the autoimmune origin of the pathology.

Causes of the development of the disease

This diagnosis is often made in patients under the age of 40 years. But it is not uncommon for the disease to affect the body of children and the elderly.

The concept of "herpetiform" does not have any connection with the herpes virus and only indicates the group location of rashes on the patient's skin.

Doctors believe that the following play an important role in the development of the disease:

•    Some viral diseases;

•    Death by helminths;

•    Pathologies of the digestive tract (ulcers, gastritis, etc.);

•    Hereditary genetic predisposition;

•    Increased sensitivity of the body to iodine.

Main symptoms of dermatitis herpetiformis

Most often, with this disease, the patient feels unwell and a slight increase in body temperature. Then there is itching of the skin in the affected area. After a few days, the first rashes appear, which in their appearance are very reminiscent of herpes.

Often rashes appear on:

•    face;

•    in the lumbar region and on the buttocks;

•    forearms;

•    shoulder blades;

•    of the flexor surface of the upper and lower extremities.

One of the characteristic features of the rash in the pathology – variety of its types and forms.  On the skin can simultaneously appear: punctate rash, blisters, papules, red spots, blisters. Often the blisters are filled with either a cloudy or clear liquid, sometimes with blood impurities. Turbidity of the fluid indicates the addition of a secondary infection.

After 5-7 days, the blisters open, and ulcers appear in their place, which take a long time to heal. As the skin heals, scarring may appear.

Diagnosis and treatment of disease

Only a doctor can accurately determine the form of the disease and prescribe the correct treatment. You cannot make a diagnosis on your own.

To diagnose dermatitis herpetiformis, the doctor will most likely prescribe: a histological examination of the contents of fluid-filled vesicles, a biochemical blood test, a general blood and urine test, a Yadasson iodine test.

In addition, patients with suspected severe pathology may be prescribed: X-ray of the lungs, ultrasound of the abdominal organs, consultation with an oncologist, ultrasound of the genitourinary system, CT scan of the kidneys.

For which skin diseases cosmetic procedures are contraindicated

Because this is a serious dermatological disease, treatment should be under medical supervision. In most cases, we are talking about long-term therapy.

Possible complications and prevention of the disease

Usually, the disease proceeds cyclically. The intensity of the rashes, the frequency of relapses depends on the diet, as well as compliance with the doctor's recommendations.

Dermatitis herpetiformis itself does not pose a fatal threat to humans. The only complication that can occur in a patient – accession of a secondary infection with all the ensuing consequences.

To reduce the foci of rash, as well as to prevent relapses, you need to:

•    spend time exercising;

•    go on a diet;

•    keep personal hygiene;

•    not succumb to stress;

•    avoid overheating or hypothermia of the skin.

We note that it is impossible to completely recover from pathology. But with the help of certain dietary restrictions, the use of medicines and folk remedies, unpleasant symptoms and the frequency of their manifestation can be reduced.
