Meningitis is an extremely dangerous disease, as it provokes inflammation of the meninges. There are various forms of this disease, depending on the route of infection, the predominant lesion of one or another membrane, the type of pathogen. How to recognize the symptoms of meningitis and identify the disease at an early stage?

In all patients, regardless of the form of meningitis, the course of the disease is accompanied by characteristic symptoms of meningitis:

  • Severe headache. In some cases, pain is felt throughout the head, sometimes – in certain areas. At the same time, factors such as noise, bright lighting can intensify the pain.
  • Sudden vomiting resulting from irritation of the corresponding centers of the brain.
  • Tension of the occipital muscles, as well as the presence of other neurological symptoms.
Fear of light and loud noises.

In addition, the disease may be accompanied by seizures similar to epileptic ones. Meningitis can be caused by viruses, bacteria, or strong strokes.

You can avoid meningitis with special vaccines. However, a vaccine, for example, against streptococcus, can only help in the fight against meningitis caused by this type of bacteria.
