Which irrigator is better to choose?

Какой ирригатор лучше выбрать

Toothbrush and toothpaste help us keep our teeth healthy every day. But sometimes they are not enough, as microbes accumulate in hard-to-reach places. In the future, this leads to caries and other inflammatory periodontal diseases. How to thoroughly clean your teeth and remove soft plaque? With the help of an irrigator!

How to choose the best irrigator? Currently, various companies produce many types of irrigators. The basic principle underlying the operation of the irrigator for teeth –  is the supply of a jet of water under a certain pressure. With the help of this jet, it becomes possible to wash interdental spaces, periodontal pockets, and hard-to-reach places. The irrigator does an excellent job of solving such a problem as inflammation of the soft tissues of the periodontium by improving blood circulation.

Irrigator – is an additional dental care tool, as it removes only fresh plaque and food debris. A toothbrush will help get rid of old and pigmented plaque.

Types of irrigators:

  • family (landline) – runs on mains power only and has a large water tank;
  • travel (portable) – differs in that it has a small liquid tank, which is convenient for transportation, it is battery operated.

In its configuration, the irrigator can have many nozzles – everything depends on the manufacturer.

Modern irrigator tips are:

  1. Dental Pocket Cleaner – periodontal. The principle of operation is that we insert the nozzle into the affected areas of the tooth to the depth of the pocket. Positioning the nozzle relative to the axis of the tooth at an angle of 45 degrees, clean with light sweeping movements for 5-10 seconds.
  2. Tongue Cleaner. We install the nozzle as close as possible to the root of the tongue, with light cleaning movements from the root to the tip, we carry out 6 to 8 movements. Be careful when using this attachment as it may cause a gag reflex.
  3. Tip for orthodontic constructions.

Indications and contraindications for the use of an irrigator

98% of the population suffer from periodontal tissue diseases – parodontosis. In this case, the irrigator must be used by everyone and constantly. Exceptions are patients with periodontal tissue diseases – periodontitis in the acute stage, as well as children who do not have manual skills. Particular attention should be paid to irrigators for persons who have removable or non-removable orthopedic structures. Poor oral hygiene is often observed in patients with braces.

Expert opinion of the portal

The use of an oral irrigator reduces the risk of dental diseases, reduces the risk of plaque formation and improves blood circulation, thereby avoiding the inflammatory process. By using a mouth irrigator twice a day, you will keep your teeth and gums in excellent condition and get rid of many problems in the future.

Proper oral care is the basis for the prevention of caries and periodontal disease. One of the most important reasons for the development of these pathologies – plaque and microorganisms that hide in it. To avoid this, dentists recommend professional cleaning every six months:
