People who suffer from bouts of allergic reactions are very familiar with the problem of allergies. However, it is worth knowing that allergies are not only for flowers, leaves and fluff from dandelions, dust or wool of your beloved cat. An allergic reaction can come from the cold, and its manifestations are no less severe than the reaction to traditional irritants.

Our blood contains specific proteins called cryoglobulins. They can precipitate when the body as a whole or its individual parts are exposed to cold. With violations in the work of immunity, the level of cryoglobulins increases. This is how the body reacts to the effects of cold.

Cold allergy is an example of a painful reaction of the body to cold.

Manifestations of cold allergy

The reaction of the body to cold is caused not only by sub-zero air temperature, but also by cold water, and gusts of cold wind, even a cold bed and soft drinks.

Cold allergy most often affects the face and hands. These are the most exposed areas of the skin that are affected by the cold. Allergy manifestations in these areas are redness of the face, cracks in the skin and the appearance of a rash.

For some people, contact with the cold is fraught with hives. Urticaria lesions are of two types: small, but more frequent, and large, but single. In the second case, they may still be accompanied by edema.

In women, cold allergies often affect the legs. Often, lovers of thin nylon tights noticed redness and a rash on the inside of the thigh, as well as under the knees. Sometimes there is a selective reaction of the body. That is, the body reacts only to some signs of cold. It often happens that a cold allergy affects only the hands and only when in contact with cold water. There is absolutely no reaction to other stimuli.

Cold Allergy Symptoms

All symptoms of cold allergy are divided into two types: external and internal. After all, in addition to itching and peeling of the skin, a stuffy nose and migraine can be a reaction to the cold.

External symptoms:

  • appearance of red spots, blisters and rashes;

Internal symptoms:

If you protect the most vulnerable areas of the skin from the cold, then the problem of cold allergy will not bother you. The most difficult thing is to protect the face and hands from the effects of cold.
