It can be stated that in recent years there has been a real boom in the development of technologies that provide an opportunity for parents of children diagnosed with autism, as well as their teachers, to effectively deal with the disease. Samsung has created a new app designed for children with autism to help them connect with others.
Until recently, the existence of such programs could only be dreamed of, but now they are being mass-produced by various small companies. For example, there are already games that can teach children how to communicate properly. Research in virtual reality on how to help autistic people cope with various social situations is gaining momentum.
The lion's share of such tools is created thanks to the efforts of independent developers. However, due to the fact that every day the number of children who are diagnosed with autism is increasing, large manufacturers are starting to take on such projects.
Samsung could not stand aside and joined the ranks of technology developers to combat autism. Thus, the South Korean manufacturer of technology has introduced a new application for smartphones based on Android, which is called Look At Me. The developers claim that the novelty can help autistic people maintain eye contact with others.
Doctors and professors from Seoul National University and Yonsei University contributed to the app. Look At Me is capable of using photos, it is also equipped with facial recognition technology and contains a series of special games. Such features of the application serve as assistants for autistic children in reading the emotions of others and in establishing contact with them.
The creators of the novelty note that according to the results of their clinical trials, 60% of the participants in the experiment had significantly improved their eye contact skills.
