A longitudinal study of developmental psychologists at the Royal Hospital of Edinburgh, which lasted more than a decade, involved 1,000 people of both sexes aged 35 to 50 years. The subjects gave answers to the test questions about the characteristics of their own personal lives, and also had to estimate the approximate age of each other by external signs.

Comparing the data of the questionnaire and assessment of the respondent's appearance by others, the researchers came to the following conclusions. Respondents who had more sexual contacts with their partners and felt accepted and supported in life, according to outsiders, looked much younger than their biological age. People around believed that they were five to seven years younger than they really were.

In couples where mutual love reigns, partners entered into intimacy on average three times a week, which is 50% more often than in families without love, where the average was twice a week.

Scientists believe that the decisive factor that makes "in love" participants look younger is the pleasure they regularly get from having sex with their loved one. First of all, sex provokes the production of pleasure hormones - endorphins. They reduce anxiety, promote relaxation and make it easier to fall asleep.

Secondly, lovemaking is an excellent workout that improves the functioning of the circulatory system, which also has a positive effect on a person's appearance, primarily on the condition of the skin and hair.
