A scientist from the USA decided to take on such an ambitious project as the digitization of the human brain. The main goal of a neuroscientist is to recreate all the information that is contained in the brain on a digital medium.
Randal Kene assures that uploading one's consciousness to a hard drive will soon become commonplace. Thanks to the work of a powerful computer, the emulation of the work of the brain will be carried out without the help of biological structures.
The artificial brain will be able not only to function actively, but also to develop. Kene is confident that the evolution of the "virtual brain" will appear to be a more rapid process than the same process in a conventional brain.
The scientist emphasizes that the brain – just a structure functioning on the principle of a mechanism, humanity simply did not manage to get closer to unraveling its secrets.
The scientist calls the creation of a special computer platform one of the main components of the implementation of his project. Thanks to it, it will be possible to emulate the brain.
In order to carry out the “digitization of consciousness”, it is necessary to ideally study the structure of the connection structure of each of the more than 80 billion brain neurons. In addition, each neuron, in turn, has 10,000 more connections with other neurons.
According to the author of the project, if a person's consciousness is transferred to a computer, it will be possible to save all his memory, as well as experienced emotions and all the experience gained. In addition, the substratum of an independent mind, which is a collection of electronic signals, will even be able to demonstrate its creative abilities.
Kene believes that such a mind will be able to make scientific discoveries at the level of the greatest minds of the past. But, unlike a living organism, such a mind can exist for an unlimited amount of time, due to which its productivity will increase, and revolutionary scientific discoveries can be made more often.
