Britain has conducted the largest study on the effects of antibiotics and came up with very unexpected results.

A team of researchers from Cardiff University has studied more than 11 million courses of antibiotics administered in the country over the past 20 years. During the study, it was found that during this time the effectiveness of such treatment has decreased significantly. Back in 1991, the rate of treatment failure was 14%, and already in 2012 it reached 15.5%.

Antibiotics are the worst for pneumonia and bronchitis. About 30% of cases cannot be cured with these drugs the first time. But the side effects have not disappeared, regardless of the effectiveness of the treatment. Therefore, experts insist that in our time, most antibiotics do more harm than good. After all, an increase in prescribed courses of antibiotic treatment provokes an increase in additional diseases against the background of side effects.

They also note that in many cases, antibacterial drugs were prescribed for strains of viruses resistant to them. Naively believing that increasing the dose will lead to the desired result.
