Overweight people often hate their bodies and refuse to take care of them. Scientists say: people lose weight faster if they manage to change their attitude towards themselves.

Psychologists from Bangor University (UK) conducted a study of 189 women undergoing a weight management program.

The control group (112 people) followed the general recommendations for proper nutrition and exercise. And the experimental group (77 women) in addition to this took a course of 30 daily practical group sessions, which discussed issues of self-attitude, body acceptance, emotional overeating and factors that provoke it.

As a result of the training, the participants in the experiment significantly increased their self-esteem, they were more able to establish relationships with their bodies. Self-acceptance stimulated these women to live a full life throughout the entire period of weight loss, which reduced the frequency of breakdowns by 58% and was reflected in the final results: representatives of the experimental group lost an average of 7% of their initial body weight, while those with whom psychologists did not work ; only 3%. Thus, increasing self-esteem turned out to be a very significant factor in losing weight.
