Psoriasis – one of the most common chronic skin pathologies, which occurs in 1.5-3 percent of the world's population. Such a large number of patients is explained by the causes of the disease and the likelihood of its transmission by inheritance. People who have become victims of this pathology suffer from the terrible discomfort caused by the disease. But, since doctors still have not found a cure for psoriasis, there are only methods by which it is possible to stop the development of the disease and bring it under control. One of such effective methods – diet for psoriasis.
Causes of psoriasis and main symptoms of the disease
Specialists in the field tend to adhere to two theories of the origin of psoriasis:
- manifestation at a young age due to poor functioning of the immune system: in most cases, the disease is inherited and affects the skin;
- Manifestation of the disease after 40 years: not associated with disorders in the immune system, the possibility of inheritance is excluded, the disease affects the joints and legs.
But psoriasis – this is a systemic pathology that extends not only to the epidermis, but also affects the nervous, endocrine and the human immune system. Unfortunately, internal organs are also often affected, including the liver, thyroid gland, and kidneys.
The main symptoms of psoriasis
The first symptoms of psoriasis are general weakness of the body, depression and a constant feeling of fatigue. And only with the development of the disease on the skin appear bright red, inflamed appearance, plaques known to everyone on different parts of the patient's body. Often, over time, the patient's body begins to become covered with similar psoriatic plaques in different areas: legs, shoulders, elbows, back, knees and hands – the most common sites of manifestation of the disease.
