Winter season — ordeal for the delicate skin of the face. Temperature fluctuations, warm indoor air and frosty outdoors, drizzling snow and knocking down wind — all this deals a tremendous blow to the skin, which responds to such factors with dryness and flaking, which leads to its rapid fading. To prevent this happened ahead of time, we suggest you study the features of facial skin care in the cold season, switch to winter mode. This will help not only protect your face from the vagaries of the weather, but also prolong your youth.
Facial care: changes in nature and in the choice of cosmetics
Feature #1. Selection of cosmetics for the season. A change in the season does not always mean a change in the cosmetic range. If there are no alarming symptoms on the skin, then proven products can be used.
Frost, wind and dry air often cause dryness and flaking. Dehydrated skin is not able to withstand such an onslaught and requires special protective equipment. Skin protecting cream must contain:
- water-retaining components (fatty acids, glycerin, hyaluronic acid);
- skin-soothing ingredients (allantoin, aloe vera, chamomile and oatmeal extracts);
- antioxidants (vitamin E, argan oil, green tea extract).
For those with dry skin, it is better to choose a thick cream, while for oily and combination skin, an emulsion or light cream is more suitable.
Feature #2. Cleansing. Avoid bar soap, it dries out the skin.
- Cleanse your face with micellar water.
- It is better to replace the shower gel with a cleanser in the form of milk or cream.
Feature #3. Use sunscreen. Apply a high protection sunscreen to your face before leaving the house.
On frosty days the sun is strong and its rays penetrate even through the clouds.
Under the influence of ultraviolet, the skin is severely destroyed.
The protective cream may have a thicker consistency in winter than in summer.

Feature #4. Avoid heavy scrubbing. In winter, dry skin increases, and with it — and keratinized layer of epidermal cells. To exfoliate it, do a gentle exfoliation.
- Strong scrubbing can break down the skin's natural protective barrier.
Feature #5. Use essential oils. Dry skin often itches and burns. Essential oils will help soothe her.
Add a few drops of essential oils of flax, aragon, wheat germ to the face cream. They will help protect the skin from dehydration.
Feature #6. Do not take hot baths. Prolonged contact with water, especially hot water, destroys the protective barrier of the skin. Therefore, in winter, water procedures should be short, and water — warm.
Feature #7. Visit a beautician. Winter — a great period for cosmetic procedures that, due to the scorching sun, should not be done in the summer.
- Acid peeling, microdermabrasion will help remove age spots and smooth wrinkles.
- You can take a course of home treatments with the addition of vitamin A.
- If the skin becomes red or flaky, the frequency of sessions should be reduced.
Sponges with a bow: protect with balm and nourish with vegetable oil
Feature #8. Don't forget the lips. The skin of the lips is most prone to dryness, as it does not contain sebaceous glands. Therefore, it must be nourished with a special balm. It can be applied even at night: this will allow the skin to recover.
- Lip cosmetics should not contain irritants such as mint or camphor.
- To keep lips smooth, vegetable oils should always be present in the diet. They moisturize the lips.
Feature #9. Take good care of your hands and feet. Moisturize your body after a shower, — cleansed skin is prone to dryness. For the same reason, every time you wash your hands, lubricate them with cream.
- Don't forget to do this before leaving the house.
- At night, apply a cream containing shea butter or cocoa butter to your feet.
