Modern man, basking in the bath, is no different from his distant ancestor, relaxing in natural springs. Since ancient times, people have noticed that taking therapeutic baths with extracts of essential oils and plants has a healing effect not only on the skin, but on the whole body. At the same time, paying tribute to balneology, many do not know how some types of baths differ from others and what kind of therapeutic agent they can be used as. We propose to clarify this issue and get acquainted with the most common types of therapeutic baths.

Hydrogen sulfide baths calm the nerves,

and radon have no contraindications

Sulfide (hydrogen sulfide) baths owe their healing effect to the hydrogen sulfide present in the water. Penetrating from the water into the skin, and then into

mucous membranes and respiratory tract, it promotes cell metabolism and the elimination of toxins from the body.

Hydrogen sulfide baths normalize blood pressure, calm the nervous system, improve the functioning of the heart and joints.

Hydrogen sulfide baths are useful:

  • for diseases of the cardiovascular system;
  • for diseases of the musculoskeletal system and joints;
  • for skin and dermatological diseases.

Taking a bath - 8-15 minutes. The course is 10-15 procedures.

Contraindications for taking hydrogen sulfide baths:

  • exacerbation of chronic diseases;
  • vegetative and cardiac crises;
  • neurotic manifestations (fears, obsessive thoughts, seizures);
  • malignant tumors.

Radon baths are one of the most common. They give excellent results and do not have side effects. Their therapeutic effect is due to mineral water and ionizing radiation, which is accompanied by the decay of radioactive gas. At the level of the body, this leads first to a constriction of the capillaries, and then to their expansion. Such vascular toning contributes to the treatment of many diseases, especially the cardiovascular, nervous and skeletal systems, as well as the musculoskeletal system.

Therapeutic baths: iodine-bromine, carbonic, turpentine

Iodine-bromine baths - based on natural sources and artificial - replace hydrogen sulfide baths, if there are contraindications to the latter. As a rule, they are prescribed to elderly patients or those in whom injuries or diseases of the spine are accompanied by cardiac pathologies.

Therapeutic effect of iodine-bromine baths:

  • reduce and relieve pain;
  • strengthen the body;
  • calm the nervous system;
  • normalize microcirculation of the spinal cord and brain.

Carbon dioxide baths are similar to radon baths in their effect on capillaries: first there is a spasm of capillaries, and then their expansion. This toning of the nervous system has a beneficial effect on the entire body.

Since taking carbonic baths there is no water pressure, which is undesirable in case of heart diseases, they can be recommended for any vascular pathologies.

They are a good prevention of hypertension and atherosclerosis, and are also prescribed in cases where osteochondrosis is accompanied by vascular complications.

  • Duration of reception - 10-15 minutes. The course of treatment is up to 10-15 baths.

Turpentine baths are used in conjunction with other medical procedures at the stage of recovery. They are prepared on the basis of an emulsion - white or yellow. The appointment of one or the other depends on the condition of the patient and is taken into account by the doctor, since the bath

on the basis of a white emulsion increases pressure, and on the basis of a yellow one, on the contrary, it reduces.
Turpentine baths affect the capillary system, so they are recommended for various diseases of the spine.

They are carried out every two to three days, gradually increasing the time of admission by several minutes, until its duration from 10 minutes for the first time reaches 20 minutes. In the same way, the temperature is increased - from 36 ° C to 41 ° C.

The course of treatment is 20 baths.
