В болезни и здравии: глутатион – «отец всех антиоксидантов»

There is a molecule that you cannot do without if you want to stay healthy and slow down aging, prevent cancer, heart disease, dementia and many other diseases. This is – "father" of all antioxidants, a great detoxifier and maestro of the immune system – glutathione.

Estet-portal.com decided to share with its readers information about this most important antioxidant, explain why every person needs it, how and where to get it.

Meet Glutathione – antioxidant and detoxifier for the body

What is glutathione? Glutathione – it is a simple molecule that the human body produces. It is a combination of three simple building blocks of proteins, i.e. amino acids – cysteine, glycine and glutamine.

The secret of Glutathione's power lies in the SH groups it contains. Sulfur – sticky, foul-smelling molecule that acts like a fly trap, only "sticks" to to it harmful substances in the body, including free radicals and toxins such as mercury and other heavy metals.

Glutathione is usually processed in the body itself, except when the toxic load becomes too "heavy". And that's where the problems begin.

The genes involved in glutathione metabolism are involved in the production of enzymes that help the body make and process glutathione. Among them: GSTM1, GSTP1 and others.

Due to the impact of weighty factors in some people, such genes are damaged. Man appeared on Earth long before the discovery of 80,000 toxic chemicals in the environment, mercury and lead contamination of the waters, and widespread electromagnetic radiation. That is why most people have survived with a "basic version of the genetic detoxification program" encoded in the DNA, which does a poor job of removing toxins from the body. Nature did not foresee that after many years a person will learn to poison himself. That is why many people (about a third of the population) lack the GSTM1 gene – one of the most important genes responsible for the production and processing of glutathione in the body.

The role of glutathione in protecting the body from chronic diseases

Glutathione is extremely important for one simple reason – it recycles antioxidants. The fact is that working with free radicals is comparable to throwing a hot potato. Free radicals get from vitamin C to vitamin E, from there – for lipoic acid, and then – to glutathione, which "cools" free radicals and recycles other antioxidants. After that, the body can regenerate another protective molecule of glutathione – and the cycle repeats again.

However, excessive oxidative stress or too many toxins can lead to problems. Glutathione stores become depleted, and we can no longer defend ourselves against free radicals, infections, or cancer if we are unable to rid ourselves of toxins. This leads to the fact that we get on the slippery path of chronic diseases.

Glutathione – it is also a capable assistant to the immune system in fighting infections and preventing cancer. Research shows that glutathione helps fight AIDS.

Glutathione – also one of the most important parts of the body's detoxification system, which carries toxins into the bile and feces to ensure they are eliminated from the body.

But that's not all. Among other things, glutathione improves the mental and physical functions of a person:

  • reduces muscle damage;

  • reduces recovery time;

  • increases strength and endurance;

  • switches metabolism from fat production to muscle development.

In general, in order to stay healthy, improve your physical and mental abilities, and maintain maximum health as you age, you need to take care of the proper level of glutathione in the body– it will protect against chronic diseases.
