Sagging eyelids – This is not just an aesthetic issue. In addition to the fact that this phenomenon ages a person, it can lead to problems with peripheral vision (i.e. cause deterioration).
There is a great way to get rid of sagging eyelids due to aging or other processes. A surgical procedure aimed at eliminating such shortcomings and problems is called blepharoplasty. How blepharoplasty is performed, what types of blepharoplasty exist, as well as the consequences of this operation, will be discussed in this article.
What is blepharoplasty - eyelid surgery
Blepharoplasty (plastic surgery on the eyelids) – This is an operation that consists in restoring sagging eyelids by removing sagging skin, muscles and fat. The eyelids tend to stretch, and the muscles that support them weaken. As a result, fat can accumulate under or above the eyelids, which causes sagging of the eyebrows, upper eyelids, and bags under the eyes. In addition to visually aging a person, such processes may cause problems with peripheral or peripheral vision. Blepharoplasty can correct or improve these vision problems.
Types of blepharoplasty
Depending on the purpose of the blepharoplasty, it can be functional or cosmetic.
For example, excess skin of the upper eyelid that blocks peripheral vision is removed with functional blepharoplasty. Also, this excess skin can be removed already for a cosmetic reason – she just looks ugly. For cosmetic reasons, the skin of the lower eyelid is also usually removed – Blepharoplasty of the lower eyelid can relieve you of wrinkles and bags under the eyes. The operation itself takes up to 3 hours. Swelling and bruising usually disappear within two days after the operation, full recovery after such plastic surgery on the eyelids is completed in a few months.
In East Asian countries, a type of blepharoplasty called double eyelid surgery is very popular. The fact is that the inhabitants of East Asia are born without a crease in the eyelid and carry out such an operation in order to form it. This is a purely cosmetic procedure that is very popular in Taiwan and other East Asian countries.
Another type of blepharoplasty is transconjunctival blepharoplasty, the peculiarity of which is that an incision is made on the back (i.e. inner) side of the eyelid, after which the surgeon removes fat from the lower eyelid through the incision without cutting the outer part century. In this way, only fat can be removed, and excess skin – no. The advantage of this procedure is the rapid healing of the eye after it is carried out.
Rejuvenating eyelid surgeries are not usually classified as particularly complex. But, of course, blepharoplasty – this is a very responsible intervention in the appearance of the patient, because with a successful outcome, beauty and youth return to the face, and in case of unsuccessful correction, the flaws are difficult to correct and impossible to hide.
