Iontophoresis in cosmetology: an effective fight against aging
Iontophoresis – a kind of hardware cosmetic procedure, the main role in which is performed by low voltage current. First, the skin is treated with a special preparation (depending on the patient's skin problems), and then, using a joystick equipped with special nozzles, microcurrent is applied to the skin. Thanks to this stimulation, there is an increase in blood circulation and oxygen synthesis in the cells, which helps therapeutic agents to better penetrate the skin.
Thus, useful components from serums, masks and creams applied to the surface of the epidermis can penetrate to the deep layers of the dermis, where they immediately begin to actively work, restoring cells and tissues, providing treatment for dermatological problems.
In the presence of acne or acne, iontophoresis will be a perfect alternative to harsh mechanical cleaning of the skin. To eliminate such problems, sebaceous plugs and dead skin cells are applied with an alkaline solution, and the procedure itself is called decontamination.
Iontophoresis in cosmetology is used to eliminate such shortcomings:
- pigment spots. special preparations in tandem with microcurrent contribute to excellent cleansing of the epidermis from dead skin cells, and lightening of areas with pigmentation occurs due to the destruction of melanin in the deep layers by certain components;
- cellulite. The drainage properties of the device help to eliminate this problem;
- edema. Using cryo-inlay it is possible to eliminate puffiness and dark circles under the eyes;
- dry skin. When using iontophoresis in combination with moisturizers, the hydrolipidic balance of the epidermis is restored, which helps to reduce the amount of redness and peeling.
- comedones and pimples. Under the influence of current pulses, the pores open, making the process of removing sebaceous plugs easier.
Drugs used for iontophoresis
Iontophoresis preparations are selected by the doctor, depending on the patient's skin type and condition. Most often, to carry out such a procedure, they use:
- liquid aloe juice in ampoules. Able to degrease the skin, eliminates subcutaneous inflammation and pustules;
- hyaluronic acid. It saturates the skin with moisture in the deep layers, eliminates dryness and flaking;
- vitamin C. It is an excellent remedy for fighting pigment spots and acne;
- vitamin PP (nicotinic acid). Promotes increased blood circulation, dilating blood vessels and accelerating the production of collagen and elastin – substances necessary for the elasticity and youthfulness of the skin;
- zinc paste. Dries acne, reduces enlarged pores, eliminates allergic rashes;
- salicylic acid. Used to treat acne in adults and teenage acne in teens.
Iontophoresis procedure steps:
1. Skin cleansing from dead cells using enzyme peeling with AHA acids.
2. Application of a preparation that is selected depending on the patient's problem and skin type.
3. Special sensors with nozzles are driven along the surface of the skin. This may cause slight tingling. This process lasts from 15 minutes to half an hour.
4. The décolleté area, neck and face are treated with an isotonic lotion with a tonic effect.
Contraindications for iontophoresis procedure:
- hormonal disorders;
- pregnancy;
- thyroid diseases;
- cardiovascular disease;
- diseases of ENT organs;
- closed purulent processes.
