Как пептид аргирелин влияет на мимические морщины

Synthetic peptides are attracting the attention of cosmetics manufacturers, as they can successfully solve many problems associated with age-related skin changes.

One of these peptides – argireline proved to be similar to botulinum toxin, but with a milder effect on mimic wrinkles.

estet-portal.com notes that cosmetics with argireline can be a good alternative for those patients who avoid injection correction of involutional changes on the face.

How Argireline affects expression lines

The reason for the appearance of facial wrinkles is the constant activity of the muscles on the face, which are responsible for the manifestation of our emotions. These wrinkles are not always a sign of aging.

They often occur in young people – owners of very active facial expressions, especially if the skin does not receive sufficient moisture and nutrition, and therefore does not have the necessary resources for a quick recovery.

When the muscles on the face tense frequently and remain in good shape, a wrinkle gradually forms at the site of tension.

In order to soften the manifestations of mimic wrinkles, agents are used that can affect muscle tone. As a rule, these are preparations of botulinum toxin – a substance that blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscle, due to which it ceases to contract and pull the skin along with it.

The synthetic peptide argireline is able to influence the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscles in much the same way as botulinum toxin.

Argireline in terms of chemistry – it is a chain of six amino acids. It is very similar to the SNAP protein in the complex responsible for the transmission of impulses from the nerve ending to the muscle fiber. When applied to the skin, the peptide penetrates and replaces the protein, which makes full-fledged neurotransmission impossible. The muscle relaxes, mimic wrinkles are gradually smoothed out.

Pros and cons of using Argireline to correct facial wrinkles

Unlike botulinum toxin, which can only be used by injection, argireline works:

•    when applied to the skin as part of a cosmetic product;

•    with additional hardware treatment of the skin with argireline applied to it (in combination with ultraphonophoresis or other procedures).

Due to external application, this peptide does not work as powerfully and quickly as botulinum toxin, and the effect of its application lasts no more than a day. Argireline has a cumulative effect, and with the constant use of a peptide agent, it persists for some time, but then disappears. Therefore, in order to maintain smooth skin and prevent the appearance of new expression lines, constant maintenance care using products containing argireline is necessary.

Injectable mesotherapy preparations containing argireline are also known, but they are not successful either with doctors or with their patients. Argireline injections tend to be quite painful even after pain relief is applied. And after the procedures, side effects often occur in the form of puffiness and a cutting sensation of "glass under the skin".

Positive aspects of using argireline to fight wrinkles:

•    acts gently and does not distort natural facial expressions;

•    non-toxic and non-allergic;

•    when used externally, it is completely safe;

•    can be applied without damaging the skin.

Argireline cosmetics can be a good addition to botulinum toxin injections for complex wrinkle correction. The peptide maintains the smoothness of the skin when the botulinum toxin gradually wears off.
