The aging process is a gradual accumulation of defects in DNA molecules, an increasing disorganization of physiological processes in the cell, which, in the end, lead the body to death. Skin aging is only one of the elements of the aging of the body as a whole. Scientists are looking for ways to correct the manifestations of skin aging. Good results in the correction of age-related changes were shown by the method of redermalization – injection of preparations based on hyaluronic and succinic acids.
Due to what this technique is effective and what results it allows to achieve, the readers of estet-portal.com were told by Ph.D. > specialists in applied aesthetics Irina Medvedeva. Different scientific views on the aging process For a long time, scientists have been trying to understand the causes of aging, offering various theories. Today, Harman's free radical theory and Mayard's theory of glycation are considered generally accepted. Harman's free-radical theory explains the aging process by the excessive formation of free radicals and their influence on the processes of cell metabolism. There are various reasons for the formation of free radicals that damage the genetic apparatus of the cell, thereby harming the body as a whole.
Maillard's glycation theory: aging may develop due to a non-enzymatic reaction of monosaccharides with amino groups of proteins, resulting in the formation of so-called collagen cross-links. Such collagen is not destroyed by collagenase, and collagen cross-links accumulate in the dermis. The rate of these reactions depends on the concentration of sugars, it increases sharply in the presence of free radicals. The latter, in turn, affecting the proteins of the cell, make them less protected from the effects of sugars.
How do the aging processes of the whole organism affect the skin
The aging processes that occur in the body are reflected in the most deplorable way on the skin. Briefly characterize the processes occurring in aging skin as follows:
the amount of water in the epidermis decreases;
this leads to a violation of keratinization, slowing down the desquamation of the epithelium;
- the epidermis becomes thinner, but at the same time its stratum corneum thickens and thickens;
- a network of fine wrinkles is formed;
- pigmented spots and dilated capillaries appear.
- In the basal layer of the epidermis, mitosis and differentiation of new cells are disrupted, which in turn leads to a slowdown in the progress of keratinocytes to the skin surface. As a result, the rate of renewal of the epidermis is reduced and the barrier function of the skin is weakened.
- In the process of aging of the dermis, fibroblasts are damaged, the synthesis of collagen, elastin, glycosaminoglycans slows down, lipid peroxidation of cell membranes develops, glycation processes increase, all layers of the skin become thinner.
Study of the pathogenesis of aging processes has shown that it can conditionally be divided into 3 key links:
moisture loss;
oxidative stress – damaging effects of free radicals;
- decrease in the activity of tissue respiration and metabolic processes in tissues.
- One of the tasks of aesthetic medicine is to find new effective methods for correcting the signs of aging.
- Influence of a combination of hyaluronic and succinic acids on the aging process
In 2000, Professor Di Pietro (Italy) proposed a method of intradermal injections of hyaluronic acid (HA) preparations in order to restore the intercellular substance and water balance. Thus, there is an active effect on the first link in the pathogenesis of skin aging. The method was called biorevitalization. It is widely recognized in the world of aesthetic medicine.
Currently, more than 10 varieties of HA preparations for biorevitalization are presented on the Ukrainian market, and these preparations are actively used by dermatocosmetologists. HA preparations actively influence the first link of pathogenesis, replenishing the loss of moisture. Biorevitalization has a much lesser effect on the second and third links of pathogenesis, i.e. monopreparations based on HA have exhausted their capabilities. Scientists are looking for ways to create combined drugs that would affect all three links in the pathogenesis of the aging mechanism.
A group of researchers
Institute Hyalualhas created the world's first 2-component drug that has a local metabolic effect – preparations Hyalual. The composition of the combined preparation Hyalual, in addition to HA, includes sodium succinate. Special technology for obtaining the Hyalual formula – Double Synergic Effect allowed to get the maximum synergy of active substances – sodium succinate and hyaluronic acid.
Characteristics of the composition of the Hyalual preparation
Properties of sodium succinate |
| · Eliminates dehydration of the skin;
· weakly stimulates fibroblast proliferation; · slightly affects the endogenous synthesis of HA and collagen fibers; · participates in the formation of the intercellular matrix; · provides selective membrane permeability; · maintains intercellular and cellular homeostasis
· It has powerful restorative and antioxidant properties; | · actively blocks free radicals;
· improves metabolic processes in the skin; · enhances cellular and tissue respiration, ion transport; · stimulates the production of ATP; · enhances microcirculation; · enhances the synthesis of structural skin proteins (collagen, elastin); · powerfully stimulates fibroblast proliferation; · activates the endogenous synthesis of HA due to a pronounced effect on the mitochondria of fibroblasts, thereby potentiating the action of HA
| Succinate, being a substrate in the Krebs cycle that occurs in mitochondria, directly affects the production of ATP, acts as a regulator of physiological and biochemical processes, and activates tissue respiration. In addition, sodium succinate has powerful antioxidant properties.
A new name was also proposed for the method of administration of the drug – redermalization. Thus, the authors emphasize that the main point of application of this technique is the middle layer of the skin – dermis.
How to correctly correct skin aging processes by redermalization
number of patients – 183,
age – 40 to 60 years old,
- gender – female,
- number of procedures – 3-4 with an interval of 2 weeks,
- methodology – procedures were performed using linear and papular techniques.
- The effect was noticeable after the first treatment. All patients noted a feeling of "fullness" skin and the lifting effect, which increased by the 3-4th procedure. The complexion was revived, small wrinkles were smoothed out, the depth of large wrinkles was reduced. There were no cases of intolerance to the drug.
- Comparing some properties of sodium succinate and HA, we come to the conclusion that it is succinate that is a strategically important component in complex anti-age therapy and has a much greater effect on the endogenous synthesis of HA and collagen fibers than HA.
This is due to a pronounced effect on the mitochondria of fibroblasts. Also, succinate stimulates the proliferation of fibroblasts much more strongly and provides a much more powerful effect on skin cells, being an indispensable source of their vital activity.
Thus, the use of Hyalual for redermalization has been confirmed by the effective implementation of anti-age programs.
