Карина Шиндер: Главное в работе с молодыми пациентами – не испортить их лица

A large number of patients of different sex and age address the specialists of aesthetic medicine every day. If earlier there was a stereotypical opinion that facial correction is performed only for older women, today aesthetic procedures are of interest to both men and women, at almost any age.

However, work with each category of patients has certain features that every specialist must know and take into account. What young patients want and how to approach them – dermatovenerologist, cosmetologist Karina Shinder.

What percentage of young patients come to you for aesthetic procedures?

K.Sh.: I have about the same percentage of young patients and older patients coming to me. The age of young patients is mainly 29-35 years old, and this is a good age to start taking care of yourself and competently care for your skin in a timely manner.

The second category of my patients – is age 50 and over. Working with them, of course, has certain features. Age patients always know what they want, they are very motivated, they never complain of bruising or swelling after the procedures, and I really enjoy working with them.

And with very young patients, at the age of 18-20, I practically do not work. An exception for them – it is the presence of acne.

What is the main difficulty in working with young patients?

K.Sh.: The main difficulty is that often they themselves do not know what  want. Young patients often come to me with the question: “I look tired, what should I do?”. And, as a rule, half of the time at the initial appointment is spent just objectively assessing and explaining to him that everything is not as bad as it seems.

In today's world, due to the excessive activity of young people in social networks, many of them, especially those who are not confident in themselves, form the erroneous opinion that "others are fine, but I have defects" ;.

And often these are the young people who come to beauticians for aesthetic procedures. Therefore, one of my main tasks when working with such patients – explain that you should not look up to other people's photos, and do something the way a friend or some famous person did.

Which aesthetic procedures are of interest to young patients?

K.Sh.: The most frequent request of young patients – This is lip enhancement. But I can note that over the past 6 years I have never done a large volume of the lips, basically for a beautiful correction it is enough to introduce half a milliliter of filler.

Another popular aesthetic procedure among young patients – This is a nasolacrimal trough correction. Especially often young girls come to this procedure after losing weight, as the volume of subcutaneous fat on the face also decreases, and the nasolacrimal groove becomes more pronounced.

Peelings and mesotherapy are the most demanded among aesthetic care procedures.

Are young male patients interested in aesthetic procedures?

K.Sh.: Yes, of course, young men aged 30-35 come to me. Their main problems – these are changes on the face associated with weight loss, & nbsp; as well as violations of facial proportions.

Male patients today often want to correct a small, sunken chin. They quite rarely ask to improve the overall appearance of the face, mostly they are worried about some specific problem, a clearly defined aesthetic flaw that they don’t like. What about the care procedures – for them, young men come to me quite rarely.

What is the main feature of working with young male patients?

K.Sh.: The main feature of working with young male patients is that they need to be convinced of the need for an aesthetic procedure.

The main problem of men is always that they are not sure that the procedure will beautify them. But if they are sure that the procedure is necessary and that I can help –  they are ready to endure any discomfort for the sake of the result.

Men are also afraid that the correction will be very noticeable, so their changes should be positive, but very natural and imperceptible.

What makes working with young patients different from working with older patients?

K.Sh.: I think that the most important thing in working with young patients – don't ruin them  young faces, because how many young girls we see with a very unnatural and excessive correction.

I think that one of my main tasks when a young girl comes to me – convince her that she does not need huge lips and cheekbones, no matter how much she wants to.

In my opinion, in young patients, all changes should be light and imperceptible, so that after visiting a beautician no one asks them who made such lips or cheekbones.

But if after the procedure my patient is told that he looks rested and more attractive – for me, as a beautician, this is the best compliment.
