Клинический случай: перифолликулит после проведения мезотерапии

Mesotherapy – This is a procedure for delivering vitamins, trace elements and plant extracts directly into the dermis through injections. Its goal is facial rejuvenation. The procedure is considered one of the easiest in injection cosmetology, however, sometimes complications may occur after it. To avoid them, it is very important to adhere to asepsis rules and use only certified, proven preparations.

This article on estet-portal.com presents a case of rapid development of perifolliculitis after mesotherapy.

Why mesotherapy is not FDA approved

During mesotherapy, multiple intradermal injections of homeopathic substances, vitamins and plant extracts are performed.

Mesotherapy first appeared in Europe and has not yet been approved by the FDA, but is gaining popularity as an alternative cosmetic procedure for a variety of purposes including:

lipolysis;
  • correction of body contours;
  • eliminate stretch marks;
  • acne scar treatment;
  • skin rejuvenation.
  • Why didn't mesotherapy get FDA approval? It is difficult to name the exact reason, but this is probably due to the lack of sufficient research confirming the effectiveness and safety of the procedure.
Despite the illusory ease of mesotherapy, it can also

complications. Clinical case: perifolliculitis after mesotherapy

A 36-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with a

Patient Treatment Protocol

:

40 mg oral prednisolone once daily tapered over 3 weeks;
  • triamcinolone cream 0.1% 2-4 times a day as needed.
  • 2 months after the start of treatment, the patient's condition returned to normal.

Mesotherapy – it is a promising technique as it is minimally invasive and promises good aesthetic results.

Due to
lack of regulation in procedure protocols

there are reports of side effects after mesotherapy, such as pain, allergic reactions, urticaria, panniculitis, ulceration, hair loss, necrosis, etc. More serious side effects have also been reported, such as permanent scarring, deformities, delirium, and massive subcutaneous emphysema. In this regard, the mesotherapy procedure should be carried out

carefully

, following all safety rules and choosing only reliable products.
