Buttock correction can be performed for medical reasons - when there is asymmetry of the buttocks or congenital atrophy of the gluteal muscles, when the buttocks are very small due to genetic characteristics or due to age-related ptosis. Buttock surgery is often performed for aesthetic reasons to improve the shape and volume of the buttocks. Lipofilling or thread lift methods have been widely used to give the buttocks the desired shape. But these methods have many limiting factors and are not suitable for everyone, and besides, their results are most often short-lived and require additional correction. Therefore, many patients prefer buttock correction with endoprosthetics.
Buttock implants can have different shapes - round and oval, which helps to choose the most appropriate option for the future shape of the buttocks. The implants have a gel filler that makes the buttocks look firm and naturally soft. The shell of buttock augmentation implants is usually textured to minimize the risk of hard fibrous shell formation and gluteal hardening.
Buttock arthroplasty surgery is performed through an incision in the intergluteal fold, so soon after the operation, the traces of surgical intervention in the patient become completely invisible.
Buttock correction procedure with implants
An incision of about 8 cm is made in the intergluteal fold, the implant is placed under the gluteus maximus muscle. In the place of its attachment to the coccyx, the subcutaneous fatty tissue is separated from the superficial gluteal fascia, the fibers in the thickness of the muscle are moved apart, and a pocket for the endoprosthesis is formed. After careful hemostasis, the implant is placed in the pocket, the tissues are sutured in layers at all levels, and drainage is installed in the implant cavity.
After buttocks surgery, the patient is recommended to sleep on the stomach or back with pillows placed high under the lower back, the drainage is removed after 2 days, the patient is recommended analgesics to relieve pain and antibiotic therapy.
Rehabilitation period after buttock plasty and possible complications
For the first time after the operation, the buttocks look swollen and hurt, especially when walking. The patient may complain of numbness and tingling in this area. It is mandatory to wear compression shorts, the exclusion of active sports for a long time, especially those associated with stress on the gluteal region. The final result of the operation can be assessed after about a year.
Complications after surgery can be associated both with the peculiarities of its implementation (incorrect implant placement, incorrectly formed pocket, or incorrectly selected layer for implant placement), and with the patient's behavior (suture divergence or suppuration under heavy loads and poor hygiene) . A complication may be capsular contracture, which is corrected by a second operation.
